    • Care Home

Here at Trinity Fold, we provide residential care for older people in the heart of Halifax, Calderdale. Our home is a place where people feel genuinely comfortable, where familiar routines are respected and where residents are treated as individuals with their own stories, preferences and ways of doing things. We specialise in older person care, residential care, dementia care and respite care. Whether someone moves in with us permanently or stays for a shorter period to recover or give a family carer some breathing space, we aim to make that experience as settled and positive as possible. For those living with dementia, we understand how much the environment and the consistency of the people around them matters, and we work hard to get both right. Our most recent Care Quality Commission inspection rated us as good, which reflects the standard we hold ourselves to day to day. We do not see that rating as a destination but as a reminder that doing things properly takes ongoing attention and genuine commitment from everyone in the team. Life at Trinity Fold is shaped by the people who live here. We take time to understand what matters to each resident, whether that is how they take their tea, what time they like to get up, or the kinds of company they enjoy. Small things add up, and we believe getting them right makes a real difference to how someone feels at home. Families are always welcome, and we encourage open communication so that everyone involved in a resident's life feels informed and included. Halifax is a community we are proud to be part of, and we try to reflect that sense of community within our walls. If you would like to find out more or arrange a visit, we would be very happy to hear from you.

    • Care Home

Clover House is a residential care home in Halifax providing care for older people, including those living with dementia. People come to us when managing at home has stopped being realistic, and our first concern is that the move feels like relief rather than loss. We ask about a person's life before they came, their family, their working years and their habits, and we use that to shape their days here. Staff help with washing and dressing, with moving about safely, with medication and with eating and drinking well, and they do it at the pace of the person rather than the rota. For those living with dementia we keep the day predictable and the surroundings familiar, adjust how we communicate rather than expecting somebody to adjust to us, and treat distress as something to be understood rather than corrected. The home is somewhere people live. Rooms are personalised with belongings that matter, meals are cooked here with a genuine choice, there is company for those who want it and quiet for those who do not, and visitors are welcome. Respite and short stays can be arranged for families needing a break or people recovering after illness. If you would like to look round, please telephone us and we will arrange a time.

    • Care Home

We are a residential care home in Halifax, providing a home for older people and for younger adults who need support with daily life, including people living with dementia. We also offer respite stays, arranged in advance where a family carer needs a break or at shorter notice when circumstances change. We try to run the place at the pace of the people living in it. That means people get up when they are ready, eat what they want and spend the day as they prefer, whether that is with company and something going on or quietly with a paper. Neither needs explaining to us. Dementia asks particular things of a care home. Familiar faces, a day that does not change shape without warning, and staff who understand that behaviour which looks difficult is usually a person trying to say something they can no longer put into words. That understanding comes from knowing somebody well, which is why we care so much about keeping our team together. Supporting younger adults alongside older residents takes thought, and we plan carefully so that everybody living here has what they need rather than a compromise. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Families are welcome and we would always rather you came and saw the place for yourself. Please contact us and we will find a time for you to look round and meet some of the people who live here.

    • Care Home

We are Park View, a residential care home in Halifax. We support older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia and people managing a mental health condition. What we provide is residential care rather than nursing care, and we say so plainly to families at the outset so that nobody moves somewhere unable to meet their needs. Within it, we help with washing, dressing and moving about safely, support people with medication, provide proper meals and make sure nobody spends their days alone unless that is what they prefer. The home runs at the pace of its residents. Nobody is woken to suit a rota, mealtimes bend around the person, and how the day is spent is a matter for the individual. For people living with dementia, we work patiently and with their history in view. Familiar faces, an unhurried pace and a routine that makes sense to the person do more good than any activity programme. Where somebody is managing a mental health condition, we work steadily and keep in contact with community teams and GPs so that support joins up. Our staff know residents well enough to notice when somebody is quieter or eating less than usual, and we ring families early rather than waiting. Visitors are welcome whenever they want to come. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. Please get in touch to look round.

This rating was achieved across every domain assessed, including Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well-led. For families, this consistent Good outcome offers reassurance that our home meets the standards expected across safety, leadership, and the everyday compassion shown to residents. It reflects our ongoing dedication to continuous improvement and to placing residents at the centre of everything we do. • Care Home

We are Lee Mount Residential Home in Halifax, Calderdale, a care home supporting older people alongside younger adults whose needs mean living independently is no longer workable. We support people living with dementia, adults with a learning disability, autistic adults and people living with mental ill health, and in every case we start with the person rather than the label. This is a home, so people keep their own rooms, their own belongings and as much of their own routine as they wish. Some like company and the busier parts of the day, others prefer quiet and their own space, and nobody is expected to join in with something simply because it appears on a calendar. Help with washing, dressing, medication and moving about is given at the individual's pace. For people living with dementia we pay close attention to familiar objects, familiar faces and a steady rhythm, and we take time to learn a life history so that reassurance rests on something real. We also provide respite stays. A planned short stay gives a family carer a proper break, or helps someone rebuild confidence after a spell in hospital before going home. We prepare for those stays properly rather than treating them as filling a spare room. Our most recent Care Quality Commission inspection rated us good overall. Relatives and friends are welcome here, and we would far rather hear a concern early than have it go unsaid. Please come and visit us if you are looking at homes in the Halifax area.

    • Care Home

Fernside Hall Care Home is a residential care home in Halifax. We support older people who need daily care, including many people living with dementia, and we also support adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, people living with mental health conditions and people with physical disabilities. With such a mixed group living under one roof, a single routine would suit nobody, so we do not run one. We work out what each person wants their days to look like and fit around that. Some people want company and things happening through the week; others want their own space with help within reach. For those living with dementia we keep routines steady and allow plenty of time, because being hurried is distressing and achieves nothing at all. Respite stays are part of what we offer, giving a family carer a proper break or supporting somebody recovering after a stay in hospital. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was good. We keep our own standards under review in between, because a rating describes one moment and the people living here need consistency. If you are looking for a place for yourself or a relative, please come and visit. Seeing the house and meeting the people in it tells you far more than anything written down.

    • Care Home

At Sandholme Fold, we provide residential and dementia care for older people in the heart of Halifax, Calderdale. We also offer respite care for those who need a short term stay, whether that is to recover after a hospital admission or to give a family carer some time to rest. We know that choosing a care home is one of the most significant decisions a family can face, and we do not take that lightly. Our aim is to make sure that everyone who comes through our doors feels genuinely at home, not just accommodated. That means taking time to understand each person's routine, their preferences, the things that matter to them day to day, and building care around that rather than the other way around. For people living with dementia, we understand how important familiarity, consistency and calm are. We work to create an environment where residents feel safe and recognised, and where their dignity is always maintained. We want to be straightforward with you. Our most recent CQC inspection resulted in a rating of requires improvement, and we think it is important to be open about that rather than gloss over it. We have taken the feedback seriously and we are actively working through the areas identified. Improvement takes time and sustained effort, but we are committed to making the changes needed and to being honest with families about where we are in that process. If you are considering Sandholme Fold for yourself or someone you love, we would welcome the chance to show you around and answer your questions properly. No pressure, just an honest conversation about whether we are the right fit. Please do get in touch and we will do our best to help.

Angelcare Residential Living is a care home in Halifax, providing a permanent home for adults who need care and support with everyday life. We aim for a household where people are known properly rather than simply managed well. Our care is residential rather than nursing. We help with personal care, medication, meals, mobility and company, and we bring in community health professionals when something more clinical is needed. Many of our residents live with dementia, and we rely on familiar staff, a routine that stays where it is and reassurance repeated as often as it is wanted. We care for residents with physical disabilities and those with a visual or hearing impairment, adapting how we communicate and how we help people move about so that dignity and independence are protected. We support younger adults too, planning their interests and routines on their own terms. Respite stays are available, giving family carers a real break and letting somebody try the home before a permanent decision is made. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please visit on an ordinary day, speak to the people who live here and form your own impression of the place.

Arranging and funding a dementia care home place in Halifax

Families rarely plan for this in advance, and the questions tend to arrive all at once after a fall, a wandering incident or a night that went badly wrong. Taking them in order restores some control. A care needs assessment comes first and establishes what support is required; a financial assessment follows and establishes who pays for it. Both can be requested before any home has been visited.

The Care Needs Assessment

Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council is the authority responsible for carrying out that assessment and for arranging funded support where a person is eligible. An assessor looks at memory, risk, mobility, medicines and daily routine, then records what level of support would meet those needs. A relative providing care can request an assessment of their own situation at the same time, which where dementia is involved is rarely a formality. Describe a typical week plainly, including the nights, because an understated account tends to produce an understated outcome.

Fees and Funded Support

A financial assessment considers savings, income and, for most permanent placements, the value of a property. Those above the threshold pay the fee the home quotes, while those below receive a contribution at a rate the council sets, and families sometimes add a top up to secure a particular room. Fees vary across the homes listed here and reflect room size, the level of care agreed and what is included beyond meals and accommodation. Ask what falls outside the weekly figure, and ask what would happen if needs progressed to the point where nursing input became necessary, because that arises more often with dementia than families expect.

Choosing between dementia care homes in Halifax

Making Use of the Ratings

Cedar Grange, Savile Park, Trinity Fold, Lee Mount Residential Home, Angelcare Residential Living, Clover House, Savile House and Fernside Hall Care Home all hold Good ratings, awarded on findings about safety, effectiveness, care, responsiveness and leadership. Sandholme Fold currently carries a Requires Improvement rating, and the report names exactly what inspectors found, so the fair questions are what has changed since and who is managing the home now. Park View Care Home has not yet been rated, which means judging it on how precisely it answers questions rather than on a published verdict.

Questions Worth Asking About Dementia Care

Ask how staff are trained in dementia specifically and how recently that training was refreshed. Ask what happens when a resident becomes distressed in the evening, since the answer separates homes that reach for reassurance from those that reach for a doctor. Ask whether doors are locked, how walking about at night is handled, and how the home learns what a person was like before the illness took hold. Ask what the day actually contains, because occupation matters as much as safety in slowing the loss of confidence. Ask finally how families are kept informed between visits, since the people who know someone best are usually the first to notice a change in them.

Frequently asked questions about dementia care homes in Halifax

How many dementia care homes are there in Halifax?

Halifax has 10 CQC registered care homes that are registered for dementia care, out of 23 CQC registered care homes in Halifax: 8 Good, 1 Requires improvement, 1 not yet rated. Counts come from the CQC register and are kept up to date as ratings change.

Which dementia care homes in Halifax were inspected most recently?

Fernside Hall Care Home (19 May 2026), Cedar Grange (12 February 2026) and Angelcare Residential Living (10 November 2025) have the most recent CQC reports.

Can Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council fund a dementia care home placement?

It can, where a needs assessment shows residential care is appropriate and a financial assessment shows the person qualifies for support. Savings, income and usually the value of a property are all taken into account. Where the council contributes it will have a view on which homes it can place into and at what weekly rate. It is also worth asking about continuing healthcare funding, which the health service assesses separately where needs are primarily clinical.

How do I arrange a care needs assessment in Halifax?

Contact Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council and ask for an adult social care assessment, which the person needing care or someone acting for them can request. There is no charge and no need to establish beforehand whether funded support would follow. A carer can ask for a separate assessment of their own needs at the same time, which matters greatly where dementia is involved. Keep a record of dates and names, since arrangements made around a hospital discharge can move very quickly.

How far in advance should I start looking for dementia care in Halifax?

Earlier than feels necessary, because dementia rarely gives much warning before a situation stops being safe. Two or three months of lead time allows for an assessment, for visits at different hours, and for a trial stay where a home offers one. Places in well regarded dementia units are not always free at the moment you need them. Even when nothing is urgent, reading the inspection reports now means a later decision can be taken calmly.

Which providers in Halifax offer dementia care?

Ten residential care homes match this search, among them Cedar Grange, Savile Park, Trinity Fold, Lee Mount Residential Home and Fernside Hall Care Home. All are registered with the Care Quality Commission, with eight rated Good, one rated Requires Improvement and one not yet rated. Each has its own profile on this page setting out the inspection history in full. Places move quickly, so approach more than one home at a time.

What should I ask when visiting a dementia care home in Halifax?

Ask how staff are trained in dementia and how often that training is refreshed. Ask what happens when a resident is distressed or wants to leave, and listen for an answer about reassurance and occupation rather than restriction. Ask how the home learns about a person's life before the illness and how that shapes their day. Ask to see the most recent Care Quality Commission report and let the manager account for anything inspectors raised.

What is the difference between a dementia care home and a dementia nursing home?

A dementia care home provides personal care from trained care staff, covering washing, dressing, medicines, meals and the support needed to manage confusion and distress. A dementia nursing home offers the same alongside a registered nurse on site at all hours, which is needed where there are wounds to dress, swallowing difficulties or other clinical needs. Every provider matching this search in Halifax is registered as a residential care home rather than a nursing home. Because dementia is progressive, ask each home what it can continue to manage and at what point a further move would become necessary.
