    • Care Home

Here at Burger Court, we are a care home based in Bradford, and we are proud to offer a genuine home for the people we support. We provide residential care, dementia care, support for older adults, younger adults, and individuals living with a learning disability or autism, as well as those with mental health needs. We also offer respite care for those who need a shorter stay, whether to recover after a period of illness or to give family carers a well earned break. We know that choosing a care home is one of the most significant decisions a person or their family will ever make, and we do not take that lightly. Our focus is on getting to know each person as an individual, understanding what matters to them day to day, and making sure their time with us feels as comfortable and as personal as possible. We work hard to create an environment where people feel safe, respected, and genuinely at ease. Our most recent CQC rating reflects that there are areas where we are working to improve, and we want to be straightforward about that. We have taken the feedback seriously and have made real changes to how we work, with ongoing efforts to raise our standards across every part of the home. We believe in being open with families and with the people we support about where we are and where we are heading. Bradford is our community and we feel a real connection to the people who live here. Whether someone is joining us for a short stay or making Burger Court their long term home, we want them to feel that they belong here. We are always happy to answer questions or arrange a visit so you can see the home for yourself and meet the team.

    • Care Home

We are Priority Care Home in Bradford. We provide residential care for older people, including those living with dementia, and we also support younger adults whose needs suit a residential setting. Respite stays are available. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement, and we would rather set that out ourselves than have you find it somewhere else. We have worked through the findings in detail, changed how care is planned, recorded and reviewed, and strengthened the way we supervise and support our staff. Our progress is being monitored, and relatives are given the same account of it that we give the regulator. What we are working to protect in the meantime is everyday life here. People arrive with their own furniture, pictures and habits, and those come first. What time you wake, where you take your breakfast, how sociable you feel today: those stay your decisions. In a city as varied as Bradford we also pay attention to language, faith and food, because a meal that is wrong for somebody is no small matter when it happens three times a day. If you are considering us for a relative, please come and see the home and ask about the rating directly. We will answer fully rather than reassuringly.

    • Care Home

At Mill View, we provide a warm and welcoming home for older adults in the heart of Bradford. We specialise in residential care, dementia care and respite care, and our team works hard every day to make sure each person living with us feels safe, comfortable and genuinely valued. We know that choosing a care home is one of the most significant decisions a family can make, and we do not take that responsibility lightly. From the moment someone walks through our doors, whether for a short respite stay or a longer term move, we take time to get to know them as an individual. Their preferences, routines, life history and personality all shape the way we support them. Our approach to dementia care is thoughtful and person centred. We understand how disorienting and unsettling this condition can be, both for the person living with it and for those who love them. We create an environment that feels calm and familiar, where people can move around safely and feel at ease. For those who need a short break from home, our respite care offers a chance to rest and recover in a friendly, supportive setting. Families can feel reassured knowing their loved one is being looked after with genuine care and attention. We are pleased that our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission resulted in a rating of good, which reflects the commitment of everyone here to maintaining high standards day in and day out. We are proud to be part of the Bradford community and to play a role in supporting older people and their families during what can be a challenging time. If you would like to find out more about life at Mill View, we would love to hear from you and welcome you for a visit.

    • Care Home

Beckfield is a residential care home in Bradford. We provide a permanent home to older people and to some younger adults, and we also offer respite stays for people who need care for a short period or whose regular carer needs a rest. The people who live with us need different things from us. Many need help with personal care, moving about safely, medication and meals. A number are living with dementia, and that shapes how the whole house runs: a recognisable daily pattern, the same familiar staff, belongings left where their owners put them, and time and company for somebody who is anxious. We also support people living with mental ill health, working alongside community mental health colleagues so that what happens here fits with the rest of a person's care, and people with physical disabilities, where equipment and access decide how much somebody can do independently. Food is cooked on the premises, and in a city as varied as Bradford we ask about tastes and about dietary and religious requirements rather than assuming. There is somewhere sociable to sit and somewhere quiet, and visitors do not need an appointment. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please arrange to come and see us and ask whatever you need to know.

    • Care Home

Here at Sunningdale EMI Care Home, we are proud to be part of the Bradford community, offering a warm and genuinely homely environment for the people who come to live with us or stay for a short time. We support older people, younger adults, and those living with dementia, and we understand that no two people are the same. That is why we take the time to get to know each person properly, learning about their life, their routines, and the things that matter most to them. Good care, in our view, starts with listening. Our team provides residential care and respite care, welcoming people who need short term support as warmly as those who make Sunningdale their long term home. For those joining us for respite, we want the experience to feel settled and comfortable from the very first day. For permanent residents, we want life here to feel full and meaningful, not just safe. Dementia care is a significant part of what we do, and we approach it thoughtfully. We know how important it is for people living with dementia to feel secure, recognised, and respected. Our staff work hard to create an atmosphere that feels calm and familiar, with consistency and kindness at the heart of every interaction. We are pleased that our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission resulted in a rating of Good, which we feel reflects the genuine effort and commitment shown by everyone who works here. We do not take that rating for granted and continue to look at how we can improve. If you are considering care for yourself or someone you love, we would always encourage you to come and visit us. We find that seeing the home in person tells you far more than any description can.

    • Care Home

We are Park View, a residential care home in Bradford. We look after older people who can no longer manage safely at home, including those living with dementia and those with a physical disability, and we take people for respite stays when a family carer needs a break or someone needs support while they get back on their feet. What we offer is straightforward. A warm room that people are encouraged to fill with their own things, meals cooked here and served at a sociable pace, help with washing, dressing, mobility and medication given with patience, and staff who are around during the night as well as the day. We work closely with local district nurses and general practitioners so that health needs are picked up early and dealt with here wherever possible. For residents living with dementia we keep routines steady and familiar, use the layout of the home to help people find their own way about, and follow the person's own version of the day rather than correcting it. Life histories matter to us, because knowing what someone did for a living, where they grew up and who they love makes it far easier to reach them on a difficult afternoon. Families are part of the home, not visitors to be managed. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good, and we would be pleased to show you round so you can judge us for yourself.

    • Care Home

Park View is a residential care home in Bradford, supporting older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia and people who have a physical disability. Our aim is a household rather than an institution, and the difference tends to show in small, checkable things. Whether anybody knocks before coming into your room. Whether you can still make your own tea when you want one. Whether getting up at half past nine is treated as a preference or a problem. Whether the food is worth looking forward to or merely got through. None of that is possible unless the practical side is dependable, so we are careful about personal care, medication, meals cooked in our own kitchen, and having staff awake and available through the night. For residents with a physical disability we make sure the equipment and the help are there to get out of a room and about the house, because mobility lost to staff convenience is easy to cause and very hard to reverse. Dementia is part of most of our days. We stopped correcting people a long time ago. Consistent staff, a calm house and enough of somebody's history to find the thread of a conversation do far more, and families are usually the ones who can give us that. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We take it as a floor. Come at a busy time and ask the residents what they make of us.

    • Care Home

Ashcroft is a residential care home in Bradford. We provide care for older people, including those living with dementia, along with respite and short stays. We are not a large place and we do not try to be one. What we offer is a comfortable house where older people are properly looked after, treated as adults and left in charge of their own days as far as they are able. People bring their own furniture and pictures, keep their own routines and decide for themselves how much they want to be part of what is going on. Dementia care here rests on familiarity. We keep staffing as consistent as we can, we do not rush anybody, and we take the trouble to learn what calms a particular person, because it differs from one resident to the next. Families often find this stage hard, and we make time for them too, with honest conversations rather than reassurance for its own sake. Bradford is home to many communities and many languages, and food, faith and the language somebody grew up with matter more rather than less as dementia advances. We try to staff and cook accordingly. Meals are cooked on the premises and residents tell us what they would like to see on the menu. Visitors are welcome through the day. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please come and see the home for yourself.

Britannia Care is a care home in Bradford. We provide residential care for older people and younger adults, and we support people living with dementia, people with a physical disability and people managing a mental health condition. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. Bradford is a city of many communities and we look after people from most of them. That shapes ordinary things here: what is cooked, which festivals are marked, which languages are spoken on a shift, whether somebody has somewhere quiet to pray. These are not extras. For most people they are the difference between living somewhere and merely being accommodated. We build support around the individual rather than the diagnosis. Two people living with dementia may need almost opposite things, and someone whose mental health has been difficult for decades usually knows far more about what helps them than any assessment will capture. We ask, we listen and we write down what we agreed. Respite is offered both for planned breaks and for the times a family reaches the end of what they can manage. Either way the person staying with us is a guest, not a case. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you are looking at care in Bradford, come and visit. Speak to residents, ask staff how long they have been here, and make up your own mind rather than relying on a description like this one.

Langdale Residential Home is in Bradford. We care for older people who need support with daily living, including those living with dementia, and we also support some younger adults. Our work is the practical daily kind: helping people wash and dress, managing medication properly, cooking on the premises, supporting people to move about safely and having staff available through the night. For residents living with dementia we keep routines steady and the faces around them familiar, and we ask families to tell us about working lives, music and habits, because that knowledge does real work on a difficult afternoon. We want to be open about where we stand. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We are working through the findings, with particular attention to record keeping, staff supervision and how consistently care plans are followed. We would sooner tell you that ourselves and invite your questions than have you come across it elsewhere, and relatives are part of that work because they are the ones who can say whether things have genuinely changed. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. Families across Bradford are welcome to visit and ask us anything.

    • Care Home

Spring Mount is a residential care home in Bradford for older people who need help with daily living, including many people living with dementia. We offer respite stays as well as permanent places. Our everyday work is the ordinary business of a household run well. Help with washing, dressing and moving about at the person's own pace and as privately as possible. Medication managed properly. Meals cooked here with real choice. Rooms that people make their own with their own furniture and pictures. Company when it is wanted and quiet when it is not. With dementia we lean on knowing somebody well, gathering their history with their family, and keeping the shape of the day predictable. We should be open about where we stand. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us requires improvement overall. We did not dispute what was found. Since then we have strengthened staffing and supervision, tightened how we manage medicines and the records we keep, and had senior staff check the care actually being given rather than the care described on paper. That work continues and we are not going to claim otherwise. We would far rather raise this ourselves and answer questions honestly than leave a family to find it out later. Anyone considering the home is welcome to visit, see how things are now, talk to the people who live here, and ask us anything at all.

Whiteoak is a residential care home in Bradford supporting adults with a wide range of needs, from older people who want help with daily living to younger adults rebuilding a more settled life. We support residents living with dementia, adults with a learning disability and autistic adults, people managing mental health conditions, people living with a physical disability, and people who have sight or hearing loss. We also support people living with an eating disorder and people affected by alcohol or drug misuse. That breadth means our team is used to adapting, and used to the fact that progress is rarely a straight line. Nobody here is treated as a failure for having a difficult week. Life in the home is deliberately ordinary. People keep their own space, take part in the running of the house as much as they want to, and we support decisions rather than make them. Respite stays are available for shorter periods. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is Requires Improvement. We would rather put that in front of you ourselves. Rosegarland Residential Care Home is in Bradford. We are a permanent home to older people, many of whom are living with dementia, and we also offer respite stays for those needing care for a short period or whose family carer needs a break. We help with the things that have become difficult: getting washed and dressed, moving about safely, medication given properly and on time, eating and drinking well, and having somebody nearby through the night. Where dementia is part of the picture it shapes the whole house rather than one wing of it. We keep the day recognisable, keep familiar staff around people, let residents hold on to their own belongings and habits, and sit with somebody who is upset instead of trying to talk them out of it. Food is cooked here and, in a city as varied as Bradford, we ask about tastes and about dietary and religious requirements rather than assuming. We take the Requires Improvement rating in the Safe domain seriously and continue to focus on strengthening every aspect of our practice, because we believe families deserve a home that is always striving to do better. Quality is not a destination for us but an ongoing journey, and we welcome open conversations with families about the standards we uphold. Choosing a care home is one of the most important decisions a family can make, and we understand the weight of that choice. At Crossley House, we are here to listen, to guide, and to offer the reassurance that comes from knowing your loved one is in caring hands. If you would like to learn more about life at our home, arrange a visit, or simply have a conversation about what we can offer, we warmly invite you to get in touch. Acacia Bank Care Home is a residential home in Bradford for older people, including those living with dementia. We are not a nursing home, so what we do well is personal care, a settled daily rhythm and knowing everybody who lives here as a person rather than a set of needs. We help with washing and dressing, medication, meals and anything else that has become difficult, at the pace of the person rather than the pace of a rota. Residents decide when they get up and go to bed, where they sit, what they eat and whether they want company or a quiet afternoon on their own. For residents living with dementia we keep the surroundings familiar and the staff consistent, explain what is happening as we go and try to work out what is behind a change in mood instead of treating it as a symptom. Families usually know a person better than any assessment, and what they tell us shapes how we work. Mealtimes matter here. Food is cooked on the premises, we ask people what they actually fancy, including the food they have always eaten, and nobody is hurried along. Respite stays are available. You are welcome to visit, look round and ask us whatever you want to know.

The Flowers Care Home is in Bradford. We provide residential care for older people and for younger adults who need support with everyday life, and caring for people living with dementia is a large part of what we do. We are not a nursing home, and it is worth being plain about that. What we offer is residential care: help with washing and dressing, medication given on time, meals cooked here, laundry done, and staff on duty through the night as well as the day. Doctors and district nurses come in when clinical care is needed. For most people that turns out to be the right level of support, because it removes the effort and the worry without removing the independence. Dementia care rests on consistency and on knowing the person. A familiar order to the day, the same faces turning up and surroundings that are easy to read will settle somebody more surely than any programme of activities. We take time to learn about a person's working life, family and habits, because that is what makes sense of things when words begin to fail. Bradford is a varied city and the people who live here come from many different backgrounds, which shapes practical things such as food, language and faith. Respite and short stays are available. Please ring us if you would like to look round.

We are Willow Bank, a residential care home in Bradford caring for older people, including many who are living with dementia. We have tried to keep the feel of a house rather than an institution. People bring their own furniture and pictures, come down when they wake rather than when a rota says so, and spend their days as they please. Some like the sitting room and the conversation that goes with it, others prefer their own room with the radio on, and neither choice needs explaining. Dementia care takes patience and it takes knowing the person. We spend time learning about the work somebody did, the family they raised, the music they grew up with and the routines that settle them. We do not argue about what year it is or where a person believes they are going. We meet people where they are and find something good to do together. The staff here know residents properly, which is how you notice that somebody is quieter than usual or eating less before it becomes serious. We keep families informed and would far rather ring early about a small worry. Visitors are welcome whenever suits them. We work with GPs, district nurses and social workers, and we offer respite stays as well as permanent places. Our most recent CQC overall rating is good. Please get in touch to arrange a look round.

    • Care Home

We are a residential care home in Bradford, providing a home for older people who need help with daily living, including those living with dementia. Our aim is an unhurried house. A good deal of care is spoiled simply by being rushed, so we try to give people the time to wash, dress and eat at their own pace, and to sit with somebody who wants to talk rather than moving straight on to the next task. Residents keep their own rooms, belongings and routines as far as we can manage, and they decide how much they want to be part of whatever is happening. Meals are cooked here and we pay attention when somebody would rather have something different. Dementia care comes down to knowing the person. We ask families to tell us about working life, children, music, faith and old habits, because that knowledge is what allows a member of staff to reassure somebody who is anxious or cannot place where they are. It is worth a great deal more than any written procedure. Respite stays are available as well as permanent places. A planned break can be what allows a relative to keep providing care at home for longer. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. Families are welcome whenever they wish to come, and we would far rather hear about a problem early than find out late. Please come and see the home for yourself.

Holly Park Care Home is a residential home in Bradford. We look after older people who need support with daily living, and we also support younger adults, including people with physical disabilities, for whom managing alone is no longer realistic. Dementia care is a large part of what we do. We keep the house calm and familiar, we give people time rather than moving them along, and we make sure staff know each resident's history and habits. That knowledge shapes everything from how you greet somebody first thing to how you help when they are unsettled later on. We want this to feel like somewhere people live rather than somewhere they have been placed. Residents bring their own belongings, keep their own routines, choose how they spend their time and see visitors whenever suits them. Meals are planned around what people actually enjoy, and there is company for those who want it and quiet for those who would rather step away. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places, whether for a planned family break or for support while someone regains strength after illness. Relatives are welcome at any reasonable hour, and what they tell us about the person is worth more than any assessment form. The Care Quality Commission rated us good at our most recent inspection. Please come and see us and ask us anything you like.

We at Springfield are proud to offer a warm, welcoming residential care home in the heart of Bradford, where compassionate support meets a true sense of community. Nestled within the familiar surroundings of the BD postcode area, our home provides older people and younger adults alike with a place where they can feel genuinely at ease. Our setting in Bradford allows residents to remain close to the people, places, and memories that matter most to them. The local Yorkshire community is part of what makes Springfield special, with the town's friendly character reflected in the atmosphere we work hard to nurture every day. We aim to create an environment that feels less like an institution and more like a home, where comfort, dignity, and familiarity are at the centre of daily life. We specialise in residential care for older people, dementia care, and support for younger adults, which means our team is experienced in tailoring care to each individual rather than offering a one size fits all approach. For families considering residential care for an older relative, we focus on the small details that make a real difference, from a familiar morning routine to a quiet chat over a cup of tea. For those living with dementia, we understand how unsettling change can feel, so we prioritise consistency, patience, and gentle reassurance to help residents feel safe and understood. For younger adults in our care, we work alongside them to support independence, personal goals, and meaningful daily activity, recognising that everyone deserves a life that feels purposeful and their own. Family involvement is something we genuinely value. We know that placing a loved one into care is one of the most significant decisions a family can make, and we see relatives as partners in the care we provide. Open conversation, regular updates, and a welcoming door for visitors are all part of how we build trust with the families we support. Springfield holds an overall rating of Good from the Care Quality Commission, with Good ratings across all five domains of Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well-led, following the most recent inspection. For families, this independent assessment offers reassurance that the care delivered here meets the standards expected by the national regulator across every aspect of how we operate, from the safety of our environment to the responsiveness of our team and the leadership behind the home. If you are exploring care options for someone you love, we warmly invite you to learn more about Springfield and the community we have built here in Bradford. Choosing the right home is a deeply personal journey, and we would be honoured to be considered as part of yours. Please feel free to reach out, ask questions, or arrange a visit so you can see for yourself the calm, caring atmosphere our residents call home.

Roxburgh Lodge is a care home in Bradford. We provide residential care for older people and younger adults, and we support people living with dementia, adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, people with a physical disability and people with a visual or hearing impairment. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. Bradford is a city of many communities and the people who live here come from a good number of them. That shapes the ordinary business of the day. What is cooked and how it is prepared, which festivals are marked, which languages are spoken on a shift, whether somebody has a quiet place to pray. Something we watch for is how needs change as people get older. For somebody with a learning disability, changes that come with age are too often missed or put down to the disability itself, and we make a point of looking properly rather than assuming. Communication takes real effort and gets it. Where speech is not how a person tells us things, we learn the way they do. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Families and social workers are welcome to visit and ask us anything.

Newline is a residential care home in Bradford, providing a permanent home for older people who can no longer manage safely on their own. We try to run the place as a household, with the ordinary rhythms of meals, company, fresh air and rest that people are used to. Our care is residential rather than nursing, which means help with washing and dressing, medication, eating well and moving about safely, alongside the things that are harder to measure but matter just as much: conversation, being listened to and somebody noticing when a person is not quite themselves. We support residents living with dementia, and our approach is to learn each person's history and habits properly so that reassurance can be given in terms that make sense to them. Community health professionals are brought in whenever something more clinical is needed. Respite stays are available as well, giving family carers a proper rest and letting a prospective resident get the feel of the home before any permanent decision is taken. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please visit during an ordinary day, talk to the people who live here and ask us anything you want to know.

Green Gables Care Home is a residential home in Bradford. We support older people needing help with daily living, including those living with dementia, those with a physical disability and those whose sight or hearing is impaired. We also support some younger adults, including people living with eating disorders and people working through problems with alcohol or drugs. That is a wide range, and what holds it together is planning around the individual rather than running a house routine everybody has to fit. We find out how somebody likes to be woken, what they eat, what they will not eat, whether they want company or quiet, and we treat that as the substance of the care rather than paperwork. For residents living with dementia we keep the day predictable and the faces familiar. Where sight or hearing is impaired we keep belongings where they are expected and check we have been understood. Where eating is difficult, mealtimes need patience and an approach agreed with the person and their clinical team rather than pressure. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Families across Bradford are welcome to visit.

Here at Ashville Court, we are proud to be a care home that genuinely feels like home. Based in Bradford, we support older adults who need a little extra help with day to day life, whether that means long term residential care, specialist dementia support, or a short stay for respite. We know that choosing a care home is one of the most significant decisions a family can make, and we do not take that lightly. From the moment someone steps through our door, we want them to feel at ease. Our team takes time to get to know each person properly, understanding their routines, their preferences, and what matters most to them, so that care always feels personal rather than one size fits all. Our specialisms in older person care, residential care, dementia care, and respite care mean we are equipped to support a wide range of needs. For those living with dementia in particular, we focus on creating a calm, familiar environment where people feel safe and understood. For those joining us for a shorter respite stay, we aim to make the experience as comfortable and welcoming as a longer term resident would receive. We are pleased that our most recent Care Quality Commission inspection rated us as good, which reflects the genuine effort our team puts in every single day. That said, we are always looking at how we can do better and we welcome feedback from residents and families as a normal part of how we work. If you are considering Ashville Court for yourself or someone you love, we would warmly encourage you to come and visit us. There is no better way to get a sense of who we are than to walk through the door and see it for yourself.

The Hawthornes is a residential care home in Bradford. We support older people, including those living with dementia, and some younger adults, and we offer respite stays as well as permanent places. Our focus is on the ordinary texture of a day rather than anything showy. Getting up when you choose, food you actually like, a warm and clean home, and staff who know your name, your history and how you take your tea. Most people who come to us have been struggling at home and are tired. What they want first is to feel safe and looked after, and the rest follows. Dementia care is a large part of our work. We keep routines steady, we keep staffing as consistent as the rota allows, and we ask families to tell us about the person's earlier life because it changes how we understand them. When somebody becomes anxious or upset, we treat that as a message rather than a problem to be quietened. Respite stays are available for planned breaks and at shorter notice after illness or a hospital admission. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We are not going to talk around that. We know which areas were raised, we have work underway, and we would rather discuss it openly with anyone considering the home than have it come as a surprise. Please visit The Hawthornes, ask us direct questions about what is changing, and form your own view.

Those living here include older people, many living with dementia, people with physical disabilities and people living with sight or hearing loss. We support younger adults too, and respite stays are part of what we do. Our attention goes on ordinary comfort and on the parts of the day nobody inspects. Whether the food is worth finishing. How long a bell takes to answer at two in the morning. Whether anybody notices you have gone quiet for a couple of days. Bradford is mixed in language, faith and food, and we build the household around that rather than accommodating it at the margins. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We are not going to leave that out and hope it passes unnoticed. Woodleigh is a residential care home in Bradford. We are home to older people, including many living with dementia and people with physical disabilities, and we offer respite stays for families who need a planned break. Our priorities are food, warmth, prompt help and privacy, in no particular order. Residents choose their own hours and nobody is hurried. What keeps somebody a person here is being known: their trade, their team, their late husband's name, the fact that they cannot abide tinned soup. For residents living with dementia we protect the routine and keep the surroundings familiar, and we ask families for the history that lets us understand what somebody means rather than only what they said. For residents with physical disabilities we plan around what a person can still manage themselves. Night time matters as much as the day. People who are awake at three in the morning should find somebody willing to sit and talk rather than somebody waiting for them to settle. Medicines are handled carefully and recorded properly, and we explain to residents what they are taking and why rather than simply handing it over. Families are welcome to arrive unannounced and see us on an ordinary day.

The Raikes Residential Home in Bradford provides care for older people, including those living with dementia. We are a home rather than an institution, and the difference shows in how the day runs. People choose when to get up and go to bed, where to spend their time and how much company they want, and they keep their own belongings around them. Staff help with washing and dressing, with moving about safely, with medication and with meals and drinks, and they do it without hurrying anybody, because being rushed is one of the things older people mind most. For those living with dementia we keep routines steady and surroundings familiar, adjust how we communicate rather than expecting the person to adjust to us, and treat distress as something to be understood rather than corrected. Meals are cooked here and there is a real choice. We know the people who live here well enough to notice when somebody is not themselves, and we involve the GP early rather than waiting for a small problem to grow. The test of a place like this is whether the people living here have lives they would recognise as their own: friendships, somewhere to go, and genuine say over an ordinary week. • Care Home

We are 19 Berryfield Road in Bradford On Avon, a residential care home run by the Ordinary Life Project Association. We support adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, people living with mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities, people with a visual or hearing impairment, and older and younger adults. Respite stays are available. The name of the organisation says what we are for. An ordinary life means the same choices about how to spend your time and who to spend it with as anybody else has, and support that makes those choices possible rather than managing them for you. So we plan around individuals rather than around a routine. Some of the people here want a busy week with work, college, sport or regular groups and plenty of getting out into the town. Others want quiet and a rhythm they can rely on, and where change is unsettling we keep things steady and prepare carefully for anything unusual. Where access, equipment or communication need proper attention, they get it, so that those needs do not end up shaping the whole day. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We are used to detailed questions from families and commissioners and we welcome them. Please contact us if you would like to visit.

Arranging and funding a dementia care home place in Bradford

How a dementia setting differs

Good dementia care is less about equipment than about how a building and a day are organised. Look for layouts that are easy to make sense of, clear signage, safe outdoor space, and enough staff to walk alongside someone who is restless rather than ask them to sit down. Routines matter, as do familiar objects, and so does a willingness to work with the person's own version of events instead of correcting it. Ask how the home supports someone who becomes distressed in the late afternoon.

Reading the inspection picture here

Of the 31 homes listed, twenty one are rated Good, seven have been told they Require Improvement and two have been judged Inadequate. Nearly a third of the list therefore carries an adverse finding, which makes the reports essential rather than optional reading. Concentrate on the safe and well led sections, where staffing levels, medication handling and management stability are examined, and check when the inspection took place. A home that has changed manager since may have moved on, but ask directly what has been done.

Questions specific to dementia

Ask what training staff receive in dementia care and how often it is refreshed, how the home approaches behaviour that others find difficult, and whether restraint or covert medication is ever used. Find out how many residents each carer supports at the busiest times, how families are involved in writing a life history, and what happens if someone needs nursing input later. Visit twice, once in the late afternoon, and watch how staff respond when someone is unsettled.

The care needs assessment

A care needs assessment is free and open to anyone who appears to need support, whatever their savings. A practitioner considers mobility, personal care, nutrition, memory, medication and risk, then records in writing what is needed. Where memory problems are part of the picture, ask that the assessment takes place at a time of day when the person is at their best. A relative giving regular unpaid help can also request a carer's assessment of their own.

Who pays for a place

Help with fees is decided separately through a financial assessment of income and capital. Bradford Metropolitan District Council is the authority that carries out both assessments in this area and arranges funded placements for those who qualify, and it is also where to ask about deferred payment agreements when a property is involved. Above the capital threshold a placement is self funded, though the assessment and the advice attached to it remain available and are worth using before anything is agreed.

Understanding the weekly fee

Fees for dementia care usually sit above standard residential rates, reflecting higher staffing and specialist training. Ask precisely what the weekly figure covers and what is billed separately, and confirm how often fees are reviewed and what notice is given of an increase. Ask too whether a third party top up is expected, who would pay it and how that sum is reviewed each year.

Frequently asked questions about dementia care homes in Bradford

How many dementia care homes are there in Bradford?

Bradford has 31 CQC registered care homes that are registered for dementia care, out of 50 CQC registered care homes in Bradford: 23 Good, 7 Requires improvement, 1 Inadequate. Counts come from the CQC register and are kept up to date as ratings change.

Which dementia care homes in Bradford were inspected most recently?

Green Gables Care Home (14 September 2026), Woodleigh Rest Home Limited (19 June 2026) and The Raikes Residential Home (13 May 2026) have the most recent CQC reports.

Which providers in Bradford offer dementia care?

31 providers match this search, all registered with the Care Quality Commission to deliver accommodation with personal care. Each has a profile here setting out its rating and registration details. Registration alone does not tell you how experienced a home is with dementia, so ask how many residents currently live with it and what training staff have had. Shortlist a few and read their inspection reports before arranging visits.

What should I ask when visiting a dementia care home in Bradford?

Ask what dementia training staff receive and how often it is updated, how many carers are on duty at the busiest points of the day, and how the home supports someone who becomes distressed. Find out how life history work is done and how families contribute to it. Ask whether the home has secure outdoor space and how residents are supported to use it. Request the fees, notice period and complaints procedure in writing.

What is the difference between a care home and a nursing home?

A residential care home provides accommodation and help with daily living from care staff, covering washing, dressing, meals, medication prompts and company. A nursing home offers all of that and also keeps a registered nurse on duty at every hour for clinical needs such as complex wounds, tube feeding or advanced frailty. The registration held with the Care Quality Commission shows which a setting is. Since dementia often brings physical needs later, ask what would happen if nursing care became necessary.

Can Bradford Metropolitan District Council fund a dementia care placement?

It can, where a needs assessment shows residential care is required and a financial assessment confirms capital and income fall below the national thresholds. Most people who qualify still contribute something from their pension and other income. Above the threshold the placement is self funded, although the council must still assess and give advice. Where a property is owned, ask how it is treated and whether a deferred payment agreement can be arranged.

How do I arrange a care needs assessment in Bradford?

Contact the adult social care team at Bradford Metropolitan District Council and ask for a care needs assessment. A GP, memory clinic or hospital discharge team can also refer if that is easier. The assessment is free and is not means tested, so there is no reason to delay while finances are worked out. Keep a short diary of incidents beforehand, because specific examples of risk are far more useful to an assessor than general worry.

How far in advance should I start looking at dementia care homes?

Earlier than most families expect. Dementia needs change gradually and then suddenly, and the homes that do this work well are often full. Looking early means you can visit without pressure and the person can see a place while they still take in new surroundings. Where a crisis has already happened the timescale shortens, so contact the council at once and still ask for time to visit before agreeing to anything.
