We are Rivah Care, a home care agency supporting people across North Tyneside and Newcastle upon Tyne in their own homes. Most of the people we work with have lived in the same house or the same street for a very long time, and staying put is exactly what they want. Our job is to make that workable by filling the gaps that have opened up, not by taking charge. We support older people who need help with washing and dressing, medication, meals, shopping or keeping the house running. We support people living with dementia, where a familiar face at the door and a steady routine do more good than almost anything else, so we keep the same small team visiting wherever we can. We also work with people living with mental ill health, with people who have a physical disability, and with younger adults who want practical help that makes work, study and everyday plans possible rather than support that takes over. Every arrangement begins with a visit and a proper conversation about what would genuinely help and how often. We agree the detail, write it down plainly so nobody is left guessing, and review it when circumstances change rather than leaving a plan to go stale. Our care workers are encouraged to raise anything that seems different, because somebody who visits regularly notices a change in appetite, mood or steadiness early.
