About Comfort Call-
Comfort Call supports people in their own homes across North Tyneside and Newcastle Upon Tyne. The people we visit include older people, many of them living with dementia, along with younger adults, people with a learning disability or autism, people with a physical disability, people with sight or hearing loss, people managing mental health conditions or an eating disorder, and people dealing with difficulties around alcohol or drugs. With a range that wide we do not pretend one approach fits everybody. We spend proper time at the start understanding how somebody lives, what they want from support and what they would rather keep doing themselves, and we match carers whose experience and manner genuinely suit the person they are visiting. Once that fit is working we try to protect it, keeping the same small team going to the same people. Visits might involve personal care and medication, cooking, shopping and housework, support to get out into the community or to work and college, or company for somebody who sees very few people in a week. Some people need one short call a day, others need several or support overnight. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We take that as the standard we are expected to hold rather than an achievement to display, and we keep asking the people we support whether we are doing what we said we would. If you want to discuss care at home in this area, we are happy to visit and talk it through.
