About Steven Lodge
Steven Lodge is a residential care home in Chatham, supporting adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, and people living with dementia. Most of those living here are younger adults, and we also offer respite stays. We treat this as where people live rather than where they have been placed. People arrange their own rooms, have a genuine say in the food and the shopping, and are involved in how the household runs. Where somebody can do a thing themselves, our job is to make that possible rather than to do it faster on their behalf, even when the quicker route is tempting on a busy morning. Where somebody wants a job, a course, a club or simply a regular place to go, we treat that as the purpose of our support rather than an extra added on. It is usually what makes the rest of the week worth arranging. Predictability is something we take seriously. For many of those living here, knowing what is happening and who will be on shift is what separates a settled day from a hard one, so we plan ahead and explain changes early. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We keep asking the people who live here what would make this a better place to live.
