About Redcote House Residential Care Home
Redcote House is a residential care home in Lincoln. We are home to older people and to some younger adults, including people living with dementia, and we take respite bookings for those who need care for a few weeks rather than permanently. We try to run the house the way a household runs rather than the way an institution does. People get up when they wake, eat what they actually fancy, and spend their days as they choose. Some of our residents like to be where the activity is, in company and conversation from morning until night. Others prefer their own room, the radio and their own thoughts, and that is an equally good way to spend a day. Our staff take the trouble to learn which is which, and to notice when it changes. Supporting people with dementia is a large part of our work. Familiarity is what makes life feel manageable, so we keep routines steady, we keep the same staff working with the same people wherever we can, and we build up a picture of each person's earlier life so that we can meet them where they are. We help with washing, dressing, medication, meals and mobility, and we bring in GPs, district nurses and other health colleagues promptly when they are needed.
