About Orchard Lodge
Orchard Lodge is a residential care home in Lincoln. We support adults with a learning disability and autistic adults, including younger adults, and we offer respite stays for people who need a short break or whose family carer needs one. The house belongs to the people living in it, and we try to make that obvious from the moment you walk in. Everyone has a support plan written with them, in a form they can use, covering how they like to be supported, what they enjoy, what they find hard and what they want their week to contain. People go out into Lincoln, keep up college, work, clubs, sport and family contact, and our job is to make those things happen rather than to fit them around the rota. Communication is where we put most of our effort. Where somebody does not use speech, we learn how they do tell us things and make sure every member of the team can read them confidently. When someone becomes distressed we treat it as communication and look for the cause, and anything that limits a person's freedom is agreed formally, recorded and reviewed with a view to reducing it. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us outstanding overall. We were glad of it and we treat it as something to keep earning. Families, advocates and commissioners are welcome to visit.
