About Canwick House Care Home
Canwick House is a residential care home in Lincoln for older people who need help with daily living. We support people living with dementia, people with mental health needs, people with physical disabilities and people with sight or hearing loss, and we offer respite stays. With that range of needs we build round individuals rather than running one routine. Before anybody moves in we spend time with them and whoever they want involved, learning how they like their days to go, what they manage perfectly well themselves, where help would be welcome and what they would rather we left alone. Help with washing, dressing, mobility, medication and health appointments is given as the person has asked and recorded carefully, so it happens the same way whoever is on shift. Rooms and equipment get real thought, since independence often turns on whether a thing is within reach. Where there is sensory loss we attend to lighting, contrast, clear signs and hearing aids that have actually been checked. With dementia we lean on knowing somebody well, gathering their history with their family and keeping it current. Where somebody is managing a mental health condition we aim to be steady and clear. Meals are cooked here with real choice. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated the home good overall.
