About Broughton House and College
Broughton House and College in Lincoln provides residential care for adults with a learning disability and for autistic adults, including older people and younger adults. We also offer respite stays. Having education and support alongside each other shapes how we work. People here are not simply placed with us. They are learning, building skills and working towards things they want to be able to do, and the home is organised to make that possible rather than to keep life simple for staff. Support is planned around each person's own goals. Cooking, shopping, managing money, using transport, holding down activities or work, and keeping up with family and friends. Where somebody needs a great deal of help, we still look hard for the parts they can take on themselves, because independence disappears quietly unless someone is protecting it. This is also somebody's home, and we keep that in view. People choose how their rooms look, what they eat, when they get up and how much of the day they spend in company. Communication and environment get real attention. We learn how each person tells us what they want, including those who use little or no speech, and we pay attention to noise, lighting and predictability. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please get in touch to visit.
