About Treetops Nursing Home
Treetops Nursing Home is in Scarborough, and we provide nursing care for people living with dementia and for people living with mental ill health alongside physical health needs. Respite stays are available as well. This is specialised work and we have built the home around it. Registered nurses are on duty at all hours, so medication is managed closely, physical health needs are met on site, and a change in somebody's condition is noticed early by staff who know them rather than during a hurried appointment elsewhere. We work with GPs, district nurses, community mental health teams and hospital staff, and we keep pressing when a resident needs something that is slow to arrive. Dementia care here is treated as caring for a person with a history rather than managing a condition. Somebody who is frightened, in pain or simply overwhelmed and cannot explain it will show us in other ways, and reading that correctly depends on knowing them. So we ask families about working lives, music, food and old habits, and we use that knowledge daily rather than filing it. The day is kept calm and predictable. Nobody is hurried, people wake when they wake, and distress is treated as something to understand rather than something to stop. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Families are welcome at any reasonable hour, and we would rather be asked difficult questions than leave relatives worrying quietly at home.
