About Horizon House
We are a nursing home in Scarborough, caring for people who need qualified nursing support as well as help with everyday life. Nurses are available at any hour, which means a change in somebody's health is noticed and acted on early rather than left to develop into a crisis. Most of the people who live here are older, and we also care for younger adults whose health needs make nursing care necessary. We support people living with mental health needs, and we try to offer steady, patient company on the harder days rather than simply managing a diagnosis. Knowing somebody properly, their history, their habits and what settles them, does more for a good day than any technique applied to a stranger. Respite stays are available too, whether that is a planned break for a family carer who has been coping at home for a long stretch, or a period of recovery after illness or a hospital admission. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We would rather be told early and honestly when something has slipped, so we ask residents and their families regularly and we act on what they tell us. If you are considering nursing care in this part of North Yorkshire, you would be very welcome to visit, meet the team and see the place for yourself.
