About St. Cecilia's Nursing Home
St. Cecilia's Nursing Home is in Scarborough, North Yorkshire. We care for older people who need nursing support, including people living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, people with physical disabilities and people with visual or hearing impairment. We take respite admissions alongside permanent places. Having qualified nurses on site around the clock means we can look after people whose health needs are complex or changing, manage a great deal here rather than in hospital, and give care towards the end of life properly and without rush. We support a mixed group of people, which makes individual planning essential rather than optional. What an autistic resident needs from us has little in common with what somebody living with advanced dementia needs, and it would be a disservice to both to pretend otherwise. So we plan person by person and pay attention to environment, communication, routine and the pace we work at. Alongside the clinical work we try to hold on to the ordinary things: being comfortable and properly dressed, food worth eating, company, and a day with some shape to it. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good, which we treat as a foundation rather than a conclusion. Families are welcome at St. Cecilia's at any reasonable hour, and we would far rather be told about a concern at the time than hear about it much later. Please contact us to arrange a visit.
