About Spring House
Spring House is a nursing home in Exeter supporting adults, including younger adults, who have a learning disability or autism and who need nursing care. We also offer respite stays. We will begin with our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission, which is requires improvement. We are not going to present it as anything other than what it is. We know what the inspectors found, we have an improvement plan and we are working through it with the people who live here, their families and their social workers, reporting our progress as we go. If you are considering a place, please ask us exactly what was wrong, what has changed and how we are checking that it holds. The work here combines nursing with genuinely individual support. Qualified nurses are on duty around the clock, so health needs including epilepsy, feeding, mobility and complex medication are managed properly and in close contact with GPs, community teams and specialists. Alongside that, people need a life, not just clinical care. People have their own rooms and their own belongings, and we support them to do the things that matter to them. Communication is central. Where somebody does not use speech we learn how they do communicate and write it down so that everyone works the same way rather than guessing. Please visit, spend time here and ask us the hard questions. We would far rather answer them.
