About Us

Escan Manor is a nursing home in Exeter, Devon, caring for adults who need nursing support as well as help with the business of everyday life.

Those who live here include older people, adults living with dementia, adults with mental health needs, adults with a physical disability and younger adults. We do not try to make all of that fit one routine. Each person has a plan built from what they tell us and what their family tells us, and it is revisited whenever their situation shifts.

Qualified nurses are on duty here at all times. That means medication, wound care, pain, nutrition and changes in health are managed on site, and that nobody has to wait until morning for somebody who knows what to do. We work closely with general practitioners, community teams and specialists across Devon so that care is coordinated rather than duplicated.

The rest of it is simply about living well. Food is prepared in our own kitchen, people choose their own hours and their own company, rooms are made personal, and families are welcome to come and go. When someone is approaching the end of their life, our aim is comfort, dignity and as little disruption as possible.

We are registered with the Care Quality Commission and have not yet been given an overall rating.

If you are considering nursing care in Exeter, come and visit. Ask us difficult questions. We would rather you did.
