About Blossom Bay Care
Blossom Bay Care is a home care agency in Newport, supporting people in their own homes across the Isle of Wight. We work with older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia and people who have a physical disability. Working on an island has advantages and it has consequences. The advantage is that we are genuinely local: our carers are your neighbours, they know the villages and the lanes, and they are not driving in from somewhere else to a half hour visit. The consequence is that families are sometimes on the mainland and cannot get here quickly, which puts more weight on us keeping them properly informed rather than only ringing when something has gone wrong. The support is practical. Help to get up, washed and dressed with dignity intact. Medication managed and recorded carefully. Meals cooked. Help to move about the home safely. Company, which on the island can matter enormously in the quieter months. We send the same carers to the same people as far as we possibly can. For somebody living with dementia that familiarity is what keeps a visit calm, and for everybody it is how a carer notices a change early. For people with a physical disability we learn each person's preferred way of being helped to move. The Care Quality Commission has not yet given us an overall rating. We are glad to explain how we work and introduce you to the team.

More about the care at Blossom Bay Care
Dementia Care at Blossom Bay Care
Familiarity is what keeps a visit calm, this agency argues, which is why it sends the same carers to the same people as far as it possibly can. Dementia care is on the Newport registration, so that confirms what the service may accept and nothing about how a visit unfolds. Steady routine, carers who notice a change early and a consistent response as the condition shifts are generally what help. Because the register shows none of that, ask how distress or refusal is managed, what is done if somebody is found out on a lane, and how observations reach the family. Ask when the agency would say home visits are no longer the right answer.
Home Care at Blossom Bay Care
£29 to £35 an hour is the indicative South East range for care at home, a regional guide rather than this agency's own price. Blossom Bay Care works across the Isle of Wight from Newport and says island working cuts both ways, with genuinely local carers but relatives who may be stuck on the mainland when something happens. It therefore puts weight on keeping families informed rather than ringing only when something has gone wrong. Ask how that is done in practice, what the minimum visit length is, and how many calls a day can be covered in the more remote villages. Isle of Wight council may contribute after an assessment, usually below the private rate.
Older Person Care at Blossom Bay Care
Carers here are your neighbours, as this agency puts it, people who know the villages and the lanes rather than drivers arriving from elsewhere for a half hour call. For an older person on the Isle of Wight that means help to get up, washed and dressed with dignity intact, medication managed and recorded carefully, meals cooked and help to move about the home safely. Blossom Bay Care also notes that company matters a great deal in the quieter months. Families, especially those on the mainland, should ask how and how often they will be updated. Ask as well what cover exists in the evening and at weekends, and who to ring when the office is closed.
Younger Adults at Blossom Bay Care
Isle of Wight is the council that would assess an adult under 65 and decide any contribution towards hours. Younger adults are named on the registration beside older people, so visits can be built around work, study or family. Ask how times are agreed, whether they can change week by week, and who would attend regularly.
Physical Disability at Blossom Bay Care
Physical disability is one of five needs named on this Newport registration, alongside dementia and older person care. Support of that kind usually turns on equipment, an accessible bathroom and carers who use an agreed method for transfers. Ask who carries out the moving and handling assessment, how it is recorded, and whether a second carer can be sent when one cannot manage safely.
