- Care Home
Rockny House is a residential care home in Kidderminster, Worcestershire. We support older people and younger adults, and the people who live here have a wide range of needs. We care for residents living with dementia, residents with learning disabilities and autism, residents living with mental health conditions and residents with physical disabilities. Running one routine and expecting everybody to fit it would not work, so we do not try. Somebody who wants a quiet and predictable week should be able to have one; somebody who wants to be out and busy should be supported to be. We work out what suits each person, we write it down so that support stays consistent across shifts, and we revisit it as people change. Whatever the need, this is somebody's home. People decide how their room looks, when they get up, what they eat and how the day goes. Care is given discreetly and with proper respect for privacy, and we support people to keep doing whatever they still can for themselves. Where somebody communicates in their own particular way, our staff learn it rather than guessing. Families are welcome and we keep relatives properly informed. Respite stays are available as well, giving family carers a planned break. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please come and visit us and ask us whatever you would like to know.

- Care Home
Nightingale Court is a residential care home in Kidderminster supporting older people, including many living with dementia, and we welcome respite guests. We want the home to feel like a place people live rather than a place people are put. Mornings are flexible, meals are proper meals, and residents choose how they spend their time, with company when they want it and quiet when they do not. Staff take trouble to learn what a person actually enjoys, which is usually more particular than any general programme would suggest. Dementia care is a large part of our work. We keep routines familiar, the building calm and the staffing consistent, and we go with the person rather than correcting them, because correcting someone rarely helps and often distresses them. When a resident is unsettled we look for the cause, whether that is pain, noise, tiredness, hunger or a need that has not been understood. Families are usually the best guide to what settles someone, and we ask. Respite stays give family carers a proper break, and the person staying receives exactly what a permanent resident receives. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was good. If you are looking at homes in this part of Worcestershire, please arrange a visit and come and see an ordinary day here.

Here at Bryden House, we provide nursing home care for older adults in the heart of Kidderminster, Worcestershire. We are proud to have received a "Good" rating from the Care Quality Commission, which reflects the genuine effort our team puts in every single day to make this a place where people feel safe, comfortable and truly at home. We support a wide range of needs under one roof. Whether someone is living with dementia, managing a physical disability, requiring nursing care or simply needing a short respite stay to recover or give a family carer some breathing space, we work hard to make sure every person receives support that is tailored to them as an individual. Residential care is also available for those who need a little extra help with daily living but do not require nursing level input. Dementia care is something we take particularly seriously. We understand how unsettling it can be for a person and their family when a diagnosis changes daily life, and we aim to create an environment that feels calm, familiar and reassuring. Our approach is to get to know each resident as a person, understanding their history, preferences and routines, so that care feels personal rather than routine. We also know how important family is. Moving into a care home, whether permanently or for a short stay, is a significant moment, and we do not take that lightly. We encourage family members to stay involved, ask questions and feel confident that their loved one is in good hands. If you would like to find out more about life at Bryden House or come and have a look around, we would be very happy to hear from you. We are always open to a conversation about how we might be able to help.

At Arden House, we offer residential care for a wide range of people in the heart of Kidderminster, Worcestershire. We support older adults, younger adults, and people living with dementia, learning disabilities, autism, mental health conditions, physical disabilities, and visual or hearing impairments. We also provide respite care for those who need a shorter stay, whether that is to give a family carer a break or to support someone through a period of change. We are proud that our most recent Care Quality Commission inspection rated us as Good, and we work hard every day to maintain and build on that standard. For us, that rating reflects something straightforward: we treat the people who live here as individuals, listen to what matters to them, and do our best to make Arden House feel like a genuine home rather than just a place to receive care. Our team takes time to get to know each person properly, understanding their history, preferences, and the things that bring them comfort or joy. Whether someone needs support with daily routines, help managing the effects of dementia, or a calm and structured environment to suit their particular needs, we try to get the details right. No two people are the same, and we do not think care should be delivered as though they are. We also know how important it is for families to feel reassured and informed. We welcome open conversations and encourage relatives and loved ones to be involved as much as they would like to be. If you are considering Arden House for yourself or someone close to you, we would be very happy to have a chat or arrange a visit so you can see the home for yourself and ask any questions you may have.

We are Cambrian House, a residential care home in Kidderminster, Worcestershire. We look after older people, including those living with dementia and people with physical disabilities, and we also support younger adults. Respite stays are available. We aim for something domestic rather than institutional. People bring their own furniture and pictures, keep their own habits, and decide for themselves how their day runs. What time you wake, where you eat, whether you want company or would rather sit quietly: those are your decisions and they stay that way. A great deal of what makes a day here good is quite unremarkable, and we would rather describe it plainly than make grand claims. For people living with dementia we work with the person as they are now. Knowing their history, recognising early what tends to unsettle them and having the patience to go at their pace prevents a lot of distress before it begins. Where somebody has a physical disability, we give proper attention to access, equipment and getting about, so those needs are met without fuss. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Relatives are welcome at any reasonable hour, and we would always rather hear a concern early. Please ring us to arrange a visit.

Here at The Gables Rest Home in Kidderminster, Worcestershire, we offer residential care for older people in a warm and homely setting where everyone is treated as an individual. We support residents living with a range of needs, including dementia, mental health conditions, physical disability, and visual or hearing impairment. Our team takes the time to get to know each person properly, understanding their history, preferences and routines so that the care we provide genuinely reflects who they are, not just the support they need. Dementia care sits at the heart of much of what we do. We know how important it is for residents and their families to feel safe and reassured, and we work hard to create an environment that feels calm, familiar and enabling. Whether someone is living with early stage dementia or has more complex needs, we aim to support their independence and wellbeing in a way that feels natural and respectful. We are proud to hold a Good rating from the Care Quality Commission, which reflects the commitment our whole team brings to providing care that is safe, effective and genuinely person centred. For us, that rating matters because it tells families something real about the standard of life their loved ones can expect here. We also recognise that moving into a care home is a significant step, both for the person moving in and for the people who love them. We welcome family members to be as involved as they wish and encourage open, honest conversations from the very start. Offmore Farm Residential Home is a care home in Kidderminster supporting older people from across Worcestershire. We provide permanent residential care and planned respite stays for people who can no longer manage safely at home, including those living with dementia and those whose physical disabilities make daily life difficult. What we try to offer is a household rather than a facility. Residents keep their own routines as far as they can. Some are up early and want the day started properly, others prefer a slow morning, and neither is treated as a problem to be managed. Meals are a proper part of the day and there is always an alternative if what is on offer does not appeal. For residents living with dementia, we work from who a person has been. Their history, their working life, their family and their habits tell us how to support them far better than any general approach could. When someone is distressed, we look for the reason rather than reaching for a routine response. Physical disability support here is about access rather than limitation. We plan and equip so that reduced mobility does not shrink someone's world to a single chair. The Care Quality Commission rated us good at our most recent inspection. You are welcome to visit us on an ordinary day, meet the people who live here and ask whatever you need to ask before making a decision.

The Firs Care Home is a residential home in Kidderminster. Most of the people who live here are older, and many have reached a point where staying at home had become a worry to themselves or their families. We support people living with dementia, people with a physical disability, and people with sight or hearing loss, and we take respite bookings for short planned stays. Day to day, our aim is that people carry on being themselves. Care with washing, dressing and medication is given discreetly and at the person's own pace. Meals are cooked on the premises, and if somebody wants toast at ten in the morning instead of a cooked breakfast at eight, that is not a problem. We ask families to tell us about the person's history, because knowing what somebody did for a living, or what music they grew up with, does more for a difficult afternoon than any amount of paperwork. On inspection we want to be honest with you. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We are not going to hide behind soft words about it. If you are looking at The Firs for a relative, please ask us what the inspectors identified, what we have put in place since, and how we are checking that the changes have stuck. Come without an appointment if you would rather see the home on an ordinary day. We will show you round either way.

Foley Grange is a residential care home in Kidderminster. Those living here include older people, many living with dementia, people managing mental health conditions and people living with sight or hearing loss. Respite stays are part of what we do. Our attention goes on ordinary comfort and on the parts of the day nobody inspects. Whether the food is worth finishing. How long a bell takes to answer at two in the morning. Whether the person helping you knows anything about you beyond your care plan. Whether anybody notices you have gone quiet for a couple of days. For residents living with dementia we keep the routine steady and the surroundings unchanged, and we ask relatives early for the history, because it is much harder to gather later and it is what makes somebody's remarks comprehensible. Where a resident communicates differently, whether through sight, hearing or anything else, we settle that properly at the start and everybody uses the same approach consistently. The Care Quality Commission rates us good overall. Relatives who visit often notice what we have stopped seeing, and we would rather they told us plainly than be polite about it.

Shenstone House is a care home in Kidderminster. We provide residential care for older people and younger adults, and we support people living with dementia, people with a physical disability and people with a visual or hearing impairment. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. One thing worth looking at when you visit any home is how long the staff have been there. A settled team tells you more than the state of the furnishings. People who stay learn the residents properly, notice when somebody is off colour and handle a difficult moment calmly because they have met it before. We put our effort into keeping good staff for that reason, and we would suggest asking them directly rather than asking us. The day belongs to the residents. They choose when to get up, what to eat, where to spend their time and how much company they want. Rooms belong to the people in them, and relatives visit without appointment. Where sight or hearing has failed, we say who has come into the room and describe what is happening. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Casa Mia Care Home is a residential care home in Kidderminster, Worcestershire. We support older people and younger adults, including residents living with dementia, people with mental health needs, people with physical disabilities and people with a visual or hearing impairment. We also work with people affected by alcohol or drug misuse, and we offer respite stays. Supporting a group of people this varied works because we plan with each one individually and because nobody here is judged for how they arrived. Somebody rebuilding after a hard period needs something quite different from an older resident who can no longer manage alone, and both should be able to live here on their own terms. The basics apply to everyone. People choose when to get up, what to eat and how much company they want. Privacy and dignity are not negotiable. Personal care is given quietly and at the person's pace. Rooms are furnished with people's own belongings. Where someone has mental health needs, we agree in advance what a difficult period looks like for them and what they want us to do. Where somebody is working on their relationship with alcohol or drugs, we support the plan they have chosen rather than lecture them about it. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us outstanding overall. We were pleased, and we treat it as a standard to keep meeting rather than a badge to display. Doddington Lodge is a residential care home in Shropshire, caring for older people from the surrounding countryside and market towns. We provide permanent residential places and planned respite stays, and we support residents living with dementia, people managing mental ill health, those with physical disabilities and people with visual or hearing impairments. We aim for a home that feels domestic rather than institutional, and mostly that comes down to pace. There is time here to help someone dress without rushing them, time for a proper conversation and time to sit with a resident having a difficult afternoon. Meals matter, and residents keep their own routines as far as they can. Dementia care starts with knowing the person. Their working life, their family, their habits and what has always comforted them guide how we support them far better than any general approach. When someone is distressed we look for the specific reason rather than reaching for a standard response. For residents with sensory impairments we adapt communication and surroundings rather than expecting anyone to adjust to us, and for those with physical disabilities we plan and equip so that reduced mobility does not shrink someone's world. The Care Quality Commission rated us good at our most recent inspection, and we keep asking residents and relatives what could be better. Arranging and funding a dementia care home place in Kidderminster
Two decisions, not one
Funding a dementia placement takes two decisions rather than one, and they are made by different people at different times. The first is whether the need is great enough to qualify for support, which the care needs assessment settles. The second is whether the person's money should pay for it, which a financial assessment settles. Confusing the two wastes weeks, so ask for the needs assessment first and treat the money question as a separate conversation that follows it.
What the council does
Both assessments, and any funded support arising from them, are the responsibility of Worcestershire County Council Adult Social Care, which will also assess a family carer's own needs where asked. That second assessment is often the more useful one at the point where caring at home has become unsustainable but no crisis has yet happened. The financial thresholds applied are set nationally rather than locally, so ask for the figures in force this year instead of relying on what a neighbour was told.
Fees and what sits behind them
Weekly rates differ across the eleven homes here, and dementia care is often priced above general residential care because of the staffing it requires. Ask what the fee covers and what appears as an extra, and ask specifically what happens if needs increase during the placement. None of these homes is registered for nursing, so a later need for nursing input could mean a move, and it is better to ask how a provider handles that before the stay begins than after.
Choosing between dementia care homes in Kidderminster
Reading the ratings properly
Nine of the eleven are rated Good, one, Casa Mia Care Home, holds an Outstanding rating, and one carries Requires Improvement. That is a stronger spread than many lists show, but a rating covers the whole home rather than its dementia care specifically. Open the report and look at what inspectors wrote under caring and responsive, since those sections say most about how residents who cannot easily explain themselves are treated.
What to watch for on a visit
Go at a time when the home is busy and sit somewhere for a while rather than following a tour. Watch whether staff crouch to speak at eye level, whether they use names, and what happens when a resident becomes distressed or asks the same question repeatedly. Ask how many staff on that shift have worked there more than a year, because familiar faces are the single most useful thing in dementia care. Ask what the home does with somebody who is awake and walking at three in the morning.
Matching the home to the stage reached
Dementia is not one condition with one answer, and a home that suits someone who is sociable and mildly forgetful may not suit the same person two years later. Describe honestly what is happening now, including night times, eating, continence and any behaviour others find difficult. Ask how the care plan records a life history and who updates it. A provider that asks careful questions back is usually the one worth pursuing.
Frequently asked questions about dementia care homes in Kidderminster
How many dementia care homes are there in Kidderminster?
Kidderminster has 12 CQC registered care homes that are registered for dementia care, out of 19 CQC registered care homes in Kidderminster: 1 Outstanding, 10 Good, 1 Requires improvement. Counts come from the CQC register and are kept up to date as ratings change.
Which dementia care homes in Kidderminster were inspected most recently?
Casa Mia Care Home (27 August 2026), Nightingale Court (2 April 2026) and Foley Grange (11 November 2023) have the most recent CQC reports.
How do I arrange a care needs assessment in Kidderminster?
Ask adult social care at Worcestershire County Council for a care needs assessment. The referral can come from the person concerned, from a relative acting on their behalf, from a general practitioner, or from a hospital ward planning a discharge. It is free and not means tested, so it is worth having even where the family intends to fund the placement itself. A practitioner will look at memory, daily routines, medication, mobility, continence and risk, and will produce a written summary. Ask for a copy, because every home you approach will want to see what it concluded.
Can Worcestershire County Council fund a dementia care home placement?
It can, where the person qualifies, but it is never automatic. The care needs assessment must find that the need meets national eligibility criteria, and a financial assessment must place income and capital below the applicable threshold. Where both tests are satisfied, the council may commission the placement in full or meet part of it while an assessed contribution is paid. Anyone with capital above the threshold arranges and pays for the placement privately. It is also worth asking whether continuing healthcare funding from the health service might apply, since that is assessed separately.
Which providers in Kidderminster offer dementia care?
12 residential care homes in Kidderminster match this search, and each appears on this page with its current CQC rating and a link to a fuller profile. Casa Mia Care Home is the one rated Outstanding, nine hold a Good rating, and one carries Requires Improvement. All of them are registered for accommodation with personal care rather than nursing. Whether a home has a vacancy at any given moment is separate from its registration, so ring a shortlist directly to ask.
What is the difference between a dementia care home and a dementia nursing home?
Both provide accommodation, meals and staff on the premises at all hours, but their registrations differ. A care home is registered for personal care, meaning support with washing, dressing, eating, prompting medication and moving about safely. A nursing home holds an additional registration and employs registered nurses on site, allowing it to manage clinical needs such as wound care, feeding tubes or medication given by injection. Every provider on this page belongs to the first category, so a person whose dementia is accompanied by significant clinical need may require a nursing home instead.
How far in advance should a dementia care home be arranged?
Earlier than most families expect, and preferably before a crisis forces the decision. Start the care needs assessment as soon as caring at home begins to feel precarious, because arranging it takes time and no funding decision can be made without it. Visiting homes unhurriedly, while there is still time to compare them, produces better choices than visiting under pressure from a hospital ward. Where a placement is needed urgently, say so at the first call, since availability shifts constantly and the council's duties are stronger in an emergency.
What should I ask when visiting a dementia care home in Kidderminster?
Ask how long the staff on duty have worked at the home, since continuity matters more in dementia care than any feature of the building. Ask what happens when a resident becomes distressed or tries to leave, and listen for whether the answer involves understanding the cause or simply managing the behaviour. Ask how the care plan captures who the person was before their diagnosis, and who keeps it current. Ask to see the most recent CQC inspection report and what has changed since. Ask, finally, what the home would do if needs grew beyond what its registration allows.
