About Cherry Lodge
Cherry Lodge is a residential care home in Lowestoft. We look after older people who have reached the point where living alone has become hard work, and we also offer respite stays for people who normally live at home. Our aim is a house that feels ordinary rather than institutional. People get up when they wake, eat food they actually enjoy, and spend their days as they choose, in company or quietly on their own. Families are welcome whenever they want to come, and we would far rather relatives dropped in as part of ordinary life than arranged formal visits. A respite stay might be a fortnight so that a family carer can rest properly, or a few weeks of support after illness or a spell in hospital, and we settle short stay guests in rather than treating them as temporary. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was requires improvement. We are not going to dress that up. We know where our work fell short of the standard the people living here deserve, and we are working through those areas with our team rather than waiting for the next inspection. If you are considering us, please ask about it directly and ask to see what has changed. You are welcome to visit on an ordinary day, look round and talk to the people who live here.
