About Amber Lodge

We are Amber Lodge in Lowestoft, Suffolk. We are a residential care home supporting older people and younger adults, including adults with a learning disability and autistic adults, and we also offer respite stays. Our aim is a home in which people continue to have their own lives. Everyone here has their own room and their own routine, decides how they spend their time, and is supported to keep up with family, friends and the things they enjoy in and around Lowestoft. Where somebody wants to take on more for themselves, whether that is cooking, managing money, using local transport or getting to college, work or volunteering, we work through it with them at a pace that suits them. Knowing people well is the basis of everything we do. We take time to learn how each person communicates, what unsettles them and what helps them recover from a difficult day, and we make sure new staff understand it before supporting anyone alone. Keeping our team consistent matters more than almost anything else we could do. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We use it as a reference point and keep questioning our own practice. If you are considering a home in the Lowestoft area, please come and visit, meet the people who live here and see how an ordinary week actually runs.
