About Blyford Residential Home

Blyford Residential Home is a care home in Lowestoft. We look after older people who need daily care, including many people living with dementia, and we also support people with physical disabilities, people with a visual or hearing impairment, and younger adults who need residential care. We try to run the place at a human pace. People get up when they wake, eat food they recognise and enjoy, and spend the day as they choose. For someone living with dementia, that steadiness is a large part of the care itself, and so is having enough time in the day that nobody is hurried through anything. Where somebody has a sensory impairment we pay attention to the environment as much as to the support, since small practical changes often do more for independence than extra help does. Respite stays are part of what we do, whether that is to give a family carer a rest or to support someone recovering after a spell in hospital. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was good. We keep asking ourselves the more useful question, which is whether people look settled and comfortable here week by week. If you would like to look round, please ring us and come at a time that suits you. You are welcome on an ordinary day.
