About Laureston House Residential Home
Laureston House is a residential care home in Dover, Kent. We are home to older people, including many living with dementia, and we offer respite stays for families who need a planned break. What we promise is modest and we try to deliver it every day. Good meals, a comfortable room, help that arrives quickly, and nobody organising your afternoon for you. We take trouble to learn who somebody was before they needed us. What they did for a living, who matters to them, what they are proud of, what they would rather not discuss. It changes how every conversation goes. For residents living with dementia we protect the routine and keep the surroundings familiar, and we ask families for the history that lets us understand what somebody means rather than only what they said. Privacy is easily lost in a shared setting, so we guard it. Doors get knocked on, personal care happens behind them, and nobody is discussed within earshot of others. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We would rather earn confidence slowly through what people experience than claim it here.
