About Our House
Our House is a residential care home in Launceston, Cornwall. We support adults with a range of needs, including people living with dementia, adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, people living with mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities and people with a visual or hearing impairment. Many of the people who live here are younger adults. Because that is such a mixed group, we do not run one routine and expect everyone to fit it. We get to know how each person communicates, what they enjoy, what unsettles them, and what they want their week to look like, and the support follows from that. Some people want a good deal of company and activity, others want their own space with help close at hand, and both are fine. We also offer respite stays for people who normally live at home, which can give a family carer a genuine break. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was requires improvement. We are not going to talk around it. We know where our work was not good enough, we are addressing it with our team, and we would rather you asked us about it directly and looked at what has changed than took a polished sentence at face value. You are welcome to visit, meet the people who live here, and ask us anything at all.
