About Orchard House
Orchard House is a nursing home in Northampton. We care for older people whose health needs mean qualified nurses should be close at hand, including many people living with dementia, and we also support people living with mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities and younger adults with nursing needs. Having nurses here means somebody does not have to move again when their health changes, which spares a frail person a great deal of upheaval and their family a great deal of worry. Around the nursing, we try to keep life ordinary and unhurried. People choose when to get up, what they eat and how they spend their days, and for people living with dementia we hold routines steady and allow plenty of time, because hurrying someone who is confused helps nobody. Respite stays are available too, for carers needing a break or for someone recovering after hospital. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was outstanding. We are proud of that and cautious about it too, because a rating like that only means something if it still describes the place a year later. So we keep checking our own work and we keep listening to people here and their relatives when they tell us something could be better. If you are considering nursing care for someone close to you, please come and see us on an ordinary day.
