About Woodhayes
Woodhayes is a nursing home in Exeter, with registered nurses on duty around the clock alongside our care team. We look after older people whose health needs require nursing, younger adults with nursing needs, people living with dementia, and people with physical disabilities. People generally come to us when their health needs have grown beyond what residential care or support at home can safely meet. The nursing covers management of long term conditions, wound and skin care, continence support, help where eating and swallowing have become difficult, and careful oversight of medication. We work closely with local GPs, district nurses and therapy teams, and we ask for specialist advice early. What we work at avoiding is letting the clinical side take over the day. The most valuable parts of a week here are usually the least medical: a visit from family, a conversation that runs on longer than it needed to, a turn round the garden when the weather allows. For people living with dementia we keep the routine steady and the faces familiar. Respite stays are available. Our most recent rating from the Care Quality Commission is good, and visitors are welcome.
