About Home Instead

We provide care at home in Ipswich and the surrounding area, supporting older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia, people with mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities and people with visual or hearing impairments. Most people who approach us are trying to avoid a move they do not want. Our part in that is practical: visits at the times that suit, help with washing and dressing, support with medication, a hand with meals, shopping and housework, assistance to move about safely, and company for somebody who spends too much of the week alone. Company is not a lesser part of the job. Several of the people we visit see very few others in the course of a week, and a carer who has time to sit and talk is doing something worthwhile. Continuity is what we work hardest at. A carer who knows somebody notices when they are unwell, in pain or unusually quiet, and the person is spared explaining themselves again and again. For people living with dementia, a familiar and unhurried visit does more good than anything written down. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us outstanding overall. We are pleased with that and conscious that a rating describes a moment. What keeps it true is the daily work and listening when somebody says something is wrong. If you are weighing up care at home, please get in touch.
