We are a home care provider based in Bury St Edmunds, supporting people across Suffolk in their own homes. Most of the people we visit are older, and what they want from us is usually the same thing described in different ways, which is to carry on living where they are without the effort of it becoming too much. Our visits cover personal care, help with medication, meals, and the ordinary jobs that quietly turn difficult. We support people living with dementia, people with a physical disability and people with a visual or hearing impairment, and we also work with younger adults whose needs are quite different. Where somebody has a sight or hearing impairment, we take the time to make sure our communication actually works, which matters more than most providers admit. For someone living with dementia, consistency is the whole thing. A familiar carer arriving at a familiar time can hold a day together, and a stranger, however skilled, cannot do the same job. We plan rotas with that in mind rather than treating it as a nice extra. Carers are trained for the conditions they will meet and there is always a senior member of staff to call when a visit turns up something unexpected. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good, and we keep asking the people we visit what would make our support better.
