About West Hospital

We provide care and support to people in their own homes in and around Bury St Edmunds. Our purpose is to help people manage at home safely, whether that is while they recover from illness, after a stay in hospital, or as an ongoing arrangement where daily life has become difficult to manage alone. Care at home works when it is built around the household rather than around a standard package, so we begin by visiting and asking what is actually getting difficult and what the person would rather keep doing for themselves. The plan we agree is written plainly and reviewed as circumstances change. Support can include help with washing and dressing, prompting and assistance with medication, preparing meals and drinks, help with moving about safely, and practical tasks such as shopping, laundry and keeping the home in order. Where somebody is regaining their confidence and strength, we aim to reduce what we do as they recover rather than keeping an arrangement going out of habit. Our staff are trained for the work they take on and supervised in it, and we work closely with families and with the health and social care professionals involved. If you would like to discuss support at home in this area, please contact us.
