About Northumbria Supported Living Service
We support adults across Newcastle and Northumberland in their own homes and in supported accommodation. The people we work with include older people and younger adults, adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, and people living with physical disabilities. Supported living should mean what it says: the home belongs to the person and we are there because we are wanted, not because we run the place. We start with what somebody already manages well and build support around the gaps. That might be personal care at either end of the day, help with medication, support to keep a tenancy and a household going, or somebody alongside a person while they get out to work, college or an activity. Plans are agreed with the person in language they can follow, and we change them as life changes rather than waiting for a date in the diary. Where somebody communicates differently, we learn how before we begin. We also keep in step with families, social workers and health teams so nobody has to keep repeating their story. Northumberland covers a lot of ground, and we plan rotas realistically so that people are not left waiting because of distance. Keeping the same staff with the same people is one of the things we are strictest about. Our most recent rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please contact us to talk things through.
