About Floating Support City

We work with older people, adults living with dementia, people with a learning disability or autism, those managing a mental health condition, people with a physical disability, and younger adults. Our approach is to support people to run their own lives rather than to run their lives for them. We ask what somebody wants their week to look like, what they manage well themselves and where help would make a real difference, then we build support around those answers. That might be assistance with personal care, medication, meals and household tasks, or help with budgeting, appointments, paperwork and getting out into the community. Support is planned with each person and written in plain language, and we revisit it as circumstances change rather than leaving it filed away. We adapt how we communicate to suit the individual and take time to learn what helps someone feel settled and what causes them stress. We keep teams small so that people are not forever explaining themselves to somebody new, and we work alongside community teams and health professionals so that support is consistent.
