We are Yourlife in Saffron Walden, supporting people in their own homes across the town and the surrounding parts of Essex. We work with older people and younger adults, people living with dementia, people with a physical disability, and people with a visual or hearing impairment. The point of care at home is that life carries on where it already is. Nobody has to pack up a house, leave a garden or learn a new neighbourhood. Our job is to fit around the household rather than reorganise it, so we begin by asking how things already run and build the support to match. Visits cover personal care, support with medication, meals and drinks, help around the house and with shopping, and getting out to appointments or simply out for a change of air. Some people want half an hour each morning. Others need several calls a day. The right amount often changes over time, and we would rather revisit it than leave somebody with an arrangement that has stopped fitting. Where sight or hearing has become restricted, small practical adjustments make a real difference to how independent somebody feels, and we treat that as part of the job.
