About Mandalay
Mandalay is a home care agency based in Saffron Walden, supporting people in their own homes across this part of Essex. We work with adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, people with a physical disability, people with visual or hearing impairment and younger adults. Our work is less about personal care tasks and more about making an ordinary life workable. Getting to college, work or activities. Running a household. Managing money, appointments and the paperwork that piles up. Keeping up with family and friends. For a lot of the people we support, having somebody reliable who turns up and who knows them is what holds the week together. Support is planned around what each person wants to be able to do rather than around risk alone. Where someone needs a great deal of help, we still look for the parts they can take on, because independence slips away quietly unless it is actively protected. We learn how each person communicates, including those who use little or no speech, and we adapt to them. Predictability, noise and sensory needs all shape how good a day goes, and we treat those as part of the support rather than as detail. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We would rather say that plainly.
