We are Careinmyhome Herts, a home care team supporting people in their own homes across Harlow and the wider Essex area. Everything we do starts in the place that matters most to the people we support, which is their own front room, their own kitchen and their own routine. We visit at agreed times to help with washing and dressing, medication, meals, shopping and getting out and about, and we shape the length and pattern of those visits around what each person actually needs rather than around a fixed template. Much of our work is with older people, including many living with dementia. We know that familiar surroundings can hold a great deal of memory and reassurance, so we take time to learn how someone likes their day to run, what unsettles them and what settles them again. We also support adults with a learning disability or autism and people living with a physical disability, where the focus is often on independence, on doing things together rather than doing things for someone, and on making sure equipment and the home itself are working in the person's favour. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was outstanding, which we were pleased to receive and which reflects the standard we ask of ourselves every day rather than something we now sit back on. Families tell us that consistency matters, so we work hard to send the same faces wherever we can.
