- Inspectors visited on 24 July 2019 as part of a routine inspection.
Safe
Inspectors found people were kept safe. Staff knew their responsibilities on abuse and how to report concerns. Risks to people had been assessed and reviewed regularly. Medicines were managed safely, staff followed infection control practices, and recruitment checks took place before staff started work. There were enough staff to meet people's needs.
Effective
Staff had the skills, knowledge and experience to support people, and were supported through induction, training and supervision. People were supported to keep a healthy balanced diet where this was part of their planned care. People had access to health and social care professionals when needed.
Caring
Staff communicated and interacted well with people and had built good relationships with them. Staff worked with people to promote their rights and understood the Equality Act 2010.
Responsive
People and their relatives were involved and consulted about their care and support needs. People were supported to join community services and activities of their choosing. Information was available so people knew how to make a complaint and felt confident it would be listened to.
Well-led
There were systems in place to assess, monitor and improve the quality of the service. There was a culture of openness and honesty between the registered manager, staff and people using the service. The service worked in partnership with health and social care professionals and other organisations.
