About Dengie Care Providers
Dengie Care Providers supports adults with a learning disability and autistic adults in their own homes in and around Chelmsford. Our work is about helping people run their own lives, in their own place, with support shaped around the person rather than a standard package. For some of the people we support that means practical help with cooking, shopping, laundry, bills and keeping on top of appointments. For others it means support to get out: using local buses, going to a club or a course, keeping a job going or visiting family. For many it is both, and the balance shifts as somebody gains confidence. We spend time at the beginning learning how a person communicates, what they enjoy, what they find overwhelming and what a difficult day looks like for them. We ask the people who know them best, and we write the plan with the person rather than for them. Routines are respected, because a change that seems small to us can be a large thing for the person living it. When something does have to change we explain it properly and give people time. Our staff are trained for the individuals they support, including communication and positive ways of responding when somebody is distressed, and we keep teams consistent because familiarity does the real work.
