We provide care at home in Brentwood and across Essex. Those we support include older adults, people living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities, people living with sight or hearing loss, younger adults, and people living with eating disorders. Working across that range means we are careful about who we send as much as about how they are trained. Skill matters and so does manner. A carer can complete every task on a plan and still leave somebody feeling managed rather than helped, and that difference is the job rather than a detail. Somebody who has struggled with an eating disorder does not need a carer with views about food, and an autistic adult does not need one who improvises. Reliability is the other half of it. We keep our rounds realistic, we decline patterns of care we cannot properly staff, and we give notice when something has to change. We have not yet been given an overall rating by the Care Quality Commission, and we would rather state that plainly. Until then we are happy to be asked how we recruit, train and supervise our staff, and to be judged on what the people we already support say about us.
