We are APC Care, a home care agency based in Hailsham in East Sussex. We support older people and younger adults in their own homes, including people living with dementia. Safe
Inspectors found that staff knew how to report concerns of abuse to the right professionals. People were given medicines safely, and risks to people were assessed with action taken to reduce them. There were enough staff, and infection control measures such as gloves and aprons were used.
Effective
Inspectors found that care staff received training and support from the management team. Consent was sought from people before services were provided. The provider worked with healthcare professionals when needed.
Caring
Inspectors found that staff maintained people's privacy and dignity. People were involved in planning their care, and independence was promoted where possible.
Responsive
Inspectors found that the views of people and care staff were sought. People were confident to use the complaints process if they needed to. Complaints were investigated and responded to appropriately.
Well-led
CQC rated this area Requires improvement because of a past and current lack of continuity in the management of the service. This meant some people had an inconsistent service. There was no registered manager at the time, but a new manager had joined and applied to register. Inspectors found no breaches of regulations, and improvements had been made to quality and safety after the former franchise contract ended.
