Care Homes in Grantham 10 care homes · 6 rated Good by CQC

Comparing the care homes in the Grantham area usually begins with one practical question: whether help with washing, dressing, meals and company is what is needed, or whether the care required has become clinical. Nine registered residential care homes answer this search, covering the NG31, NG32 and NG33 postcode districts. One of them holds an Outstanding rating from the Care Quality Commission, five are rated Good, one is rated Requires Improvement and two have no published rating as yet. Lincolnshire County Council is the authority responsible for carrying out a care needs assessment and the financial assessment that accompanies it, and therefore for deciding whether a placement attracts funded support. Organising the page by postcode district rather than by town keeps homes in the surrounding villages on the list where a narrower search would lose them, and town pages exist separately. Open the profiles that interest you and read each inspection report in full before you settle on a shortlist.

- Care Home
At Hazel House, we provide residential care in the heart of Grantham, Lincolnshire, and we take genuine pride in the community we have built here. Our home supports adults with learning disabilities and autism, with a particular focus on younger adults who deserve a place where they feel truly understood, respected and at home. We know that choosing the right care setting is one of the most significant decisions a person or their family will ever make. That is why we work hard to ensure that everyone who comes through our doors is treated as an individual, with their own preferences, routines and goals. We take time to get to know the people in our care and the people who love them, because good support only comes from genuine understanding. Alongside our residential placements, we also offer respite care, giving families and carers the opportunity to take a break while knowing their loved one is in a comfortable, familiar and supportive environment. We find that many people who come to us for respite return time and again, which we think says a great deal about the atmosphere we have created here. Life at Hazel House is busy, sociable and centred around the choices of the people we support. We encourage independence wherever possible and work alongside each person to help them live as fulfilling a life as they can. Whether that means supporting someone with daily living, helping them access their local community in Grantham, or simply spending time doing the things they enjoy, we are here for all of it. We are proud to be part of this town and to play a small but meaningful role in the lives of the people we support every day. If you would like to find out more, we would be very happy to hear from you.

- Care Home
Gregory House is a residential care home in Grantham, Lincolnshire. We are home to older people, both for the long term and for shorter respite stays when a family carer needs a rest. Our list is short and we try never to slip on it. Warmth, decent meals, prompt assistance, privacy, and residents deciding their own routines. The things worth knowing are unglamorous: what somebody eats, when they wake, who they want told if they are unwell, and what they would like left alone. Laundry, glasses, hearing aids and dentures matter more than they sound. Losing them is a common and quietly serious failure in care homes. We think about how the place sounds and smells, because both tell a visitor and a resident a great deal about how it is being run. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is outstanding. We are proud of it and slightly cautious about it, because a rating describes a period rather than a permanent condition. What keeps it true is the same daily attention to small things that earned it, and asking residents and relatives what we have stopped noticing. Families are welcome to arrive unannounced.

- Care Home
We are a residential care home in Grantham providing a home for older people and younger adults who need help with daily life. We try to keep the feel of a household: people bring their own furniture and pictures, keep their own hours where they can, and carry on with the things they have always enjoyed. We help with personal care, mobility, meals and medication, and we look after people living with dementia. What works with dementia, in our experience, is nothing elaborate. Familiar staff, routines that stay steady and enough time that nothing has to be rushed will do more than any programme. A day that is not hurried is usually a day that goes well. Respite stays are available too, whether that gives a family carer a proper rest after a long stretch of managing at home, or lets someone try the home for a short period before deciding on anything longer. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We think keeping it depends on hearing about small problems while they are still small, so we ask residents and relatives often and we act on what they tell us. Do come and see us if you are looking at homes in this area. A look round, a chat with the people who live here and a cup of tea will tell you far more than anything written down.

Here at Fairview Farm, we provide residential care for people with learning disabilities and autism in a warm, homely setting in Grantham, Lincolnshire. We also offer respite care, giving families and carers the opportunity to take a break while knowing their loved one is well looked after and in safe hands. We are proud to have received a "Good" rating from the Care Quality Commission, which reflects the effort and commitment that goes into everything we do here day to day. It means a great deal to us, not as a badge on a wall, but as an honest reflection of the care people experience when they live or stay with us. Living with a learning disability or autism can bring its own unique set of needs and preferences, and we take the time to understand each person as an individual. We work closely with the people in our care, their families, and other professionals to make sure that support is shaped around what matters to each person, rather than a one size fits all approach. Routines, communication styles, sensory needs and personal interests all play a part in how we plan and deliver care. Our team know the people they support well, and that familiarity builds real trust over time. For those joining us for respite stays, we work hard to make sure the transition feels easy and that every visit feels consistent and reassuring. We believe that a care home should feel like a genuine home, somewhere people feel comfortable, respected and able to live as independently as possible. If you would like to find out more about Fairview Farm, or to arrange a visit, we would love to hear from you. We are always happy to have a conversation and answer any questions you might have.

Kings Court is a care home in Grantham, Lincolnshire. We provide residential care for older people and younger adults, and we support people living with dementia, people with a physical disability, people with a visual or hearing impairment and people managing a mental health condition. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We would rather set that out at the start than let a family find it later. The inspection identified things that were not good enough for the people living here, and we have accepted that. Anyone considering us should ask precisely what was found and precisely what has changed since, and should not settle for a general answer. What we are working towards is a home built around individuals. The people here have very different needs, and support has to be planned person by person rather than by group. That means learning how somebody communicates, what their week should actually contain and what helps when things go wrong. Please visit before deciding anything. Read the inspection report in full, speak to residents and relatives, and judge us on what you find.

Apple Trees is a residential care and reablement centre in Grantham in Lincolnshire. We support older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia and people with physical disabilities, and we offer respite stays alongside longer term places. A good deal of our work sits between hospital and home. Somebody who has had a fall, an operation or a long illness often needs a period of support and practice before going back to their own front door, and that is exactly what we are here for. We work closely with therapists, community teams and GPs, and we aim to build confidence as much as strength, because confidence is usually what decides whether somebody manages at home. That means our staff are careful not to do too much. Where a person can do something for themselves, even slowly, we support them to do it rather than take over, and we pay attention to what they will actually face when they get home. For people living with dementia, and for those staying with us longer term, we keep the day familiar and unhurried and we get to know a person's history properly. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please come and see us, meet the team and ask whatever you would like to know.

Richard House provides residential and nursing care in Grantham. We care for older people who need help with daily living, for those who need qualified nursing, for residents living with dementia, for people living with mental health conditions, for people with a physical disability and for people whose sight or hearing is impaired. We also care for some younger adults. Offering both residential and nursing care means that when somebody's health changes we can adjust what we provide rather than asking them to move again. We want to be open about where we stand. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We are working through the points raised, with particular attention to record keeping, staff supervision and the consistency of care planning, and we would sooner set that out ourselves and invite your questions than have you come across it elsewhere. Relatives are part of that work because they can say whether things have genuinely changed. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. Families across Lincolnshire are welcome to visit and ask us anything.

Here at Maple Leaf Lodge, we are a care home based in Grantham, Lincolnshire, providing a warm and homely environment for the people who live with us. We are proud to hold a Good rating from the Care Quality Commission, which reflects the genuine effort our whole team puts into the day to day life of everyone in our care. We support older people across a range of needs, including residential care, dementia care, care for those living with a physical disability, and respite care for those who need a shorter stay. Whether someone moves in with us permanently or comes for a period of rest and recovery, we aim to make sure they feel settled, respected and at home from the very first day. Dementia care is something we take seriously. We understand how unsettling it can be for both the person living with dementia and for their family, and we work hard to create a calm, familiar and reassuring atmosphere that helps people feel safe and understood. Our approach is built around knowing each person as an individual, their history, their preferences and what matters most to them. For families considering respite care, we know it can feel like a big decision. We try to make the transition as straightforward as possible and to keep families informed and involved throughout. We are part of the Grantham community and many of our residents have lived in and around the area for much of their lives. That local connection matters to us. We see our role not just as providing care, but as offering a place where people can continue to live with dignity, comfort and a genuine sense of belonging. If you would like to find out more or arrange a visit, we would be very happy to hear from you.

We are a residential care home in Grantham providing a home for older people who need help to get comfortably through the day. We try hard to keep the feel of a house rather than an institution. People bring their own furniture and pictures, get up and go to bed when it suits them, and carry on with the things they have always enjoyed. We help with personal care, mobility, meals and medication, and we look after people living with dementia. What we have found works with dementia is nothing complicated: familiar staff, routines that do not keep changing, and enough time that nothing needs to be rushed. - Care Home
Millfield House is a small residential care home in Grantham supporting adults with a learning disability and autistic adults, including younger adults. We work in a deliberately domestic way, because this is a house where people live rather than a unit where care is delivered. Being small means the team know each person properly rather than relying on written handovers, which matters enormously when somebody communicates in their own way or when a change in mood is the first sign that something is wrong. We spend time learning how a person tells us they are content, bored, unwell or unsettled, and we make sure everybody reads those signs the same way. People here choose how to spend their time, keep their own things around them and take on as much of the ordinary running of a house as they want. Where somebody is working towards more independence, we look for the practical steps and go at their pace rather than ours. Respite stays are available as well. We have not yet received an overall rating from the Care Quality Commission. Until we do, the fairest way to judge us is to visit and ask the team what they know about the people they support.

Arranging and funding a care home place in Grantham
What these homes are registered to provide
A residential care home offers somewhere to live with personal care attached: help with washing, dressing, meals, medication and moving about, plus company and staff on hand overnight. All 10 homes listed here hold that registration across the NG31, NG32 and NG33 postcode districts. What they do not provide is a registered nurse on site, so where wound care, a feeding tube or close clinical monitoring is needed, an assessment is likely to point towards a nursing home instead.
Making sense of the ratings here
OSJCT Gregory House holds the Outstanding rating on this page, and Belvoir House Care Home, Fairview Farm, Apple Trees Care and Reablement Centre, Maple Leaf Lodge Care Home and Caythorpe Residential Home are rated Good. Kings Court Nursing Home, which is registered for residential care, is rated Requires Improvement, and the report rather than the label will tell you whether the concern was about records or about something nearer the bedside. Hazel House and Millfield House carry no published rating, which means no inspection report exists for the registration yet rather than that anything is wrong.
Choosing between care homes in Grantham
Requesting a care needs assessment
A care needs assessment establishes what level of care is genuinely required and is free to request for anyone who appears to need care, whatever their savings. It is carried out by Lincolnshire County Council, which also conducts the separate financial assessment used to work out what the person contributes and whether public funding applies. Where the question arises during a hospital stay, the assessment is usually arranged from the ward and relatives are entitled to take part. Ask for the outcome in writing, since a home will want to know exactly what has been identified.
Fees, exclusions and what to ask on a visit
Fees vary between homes and none appear on this page, so ask for a written fee schedule and read it for what it leaves out as well as the weekly figure. Where capital sits above the national threshold a placement is normally self funded; where the authority funds a place it may cap the amount payable and look to a relative for the difference at a dearer home. On the visit itself, ask how many care staff are on duty by day and overnight, how long the manager has been in post, how medication is recorded, and what the home would do if needs outgrew personal care. Then open each profile here, read the inspection report in full, and let that decide where you go first.
Frequently asked questions about care homes in Grantham
Which providers offer residential care in the Grantham area?
Nine registered residential care homes cover the NG31, NG32 and NG33 postcode districts and appear on this page, among them OSJCT Gregory House, Belvoir House Care Home, Fairview Farm, Apple Trees Care and Reablement Centre, Maple Leaf Lodge Care Home and Caythorpe Residential Home. Each is registered with the Care Quality Commission to provide accommodation with personal care. Registration means a home is lawfully providing that care and is open to inspection, which is separate from any judgement about quality. Open a provider profile for the current rating and the report behind it.
What should we ask when visiting a care home in the Grantham area?
Ask how many care staff are on duty during the day and overnight, and how long the manager has been in post. Ask how medication is recorded, how the home responds when a resident becomes unwell, and which community health professionals visit. Ask what would happen if needs grew beyond personal care, and whether that would mean a move. Try to visit at a mealtime and speak to a relative of a current resident as well as to the manager.
What is the difference between a care home and a nursing home?
A care home provides accommodation together with personal care, which covers help with washing, dressing, eating and getting about. A nursing home holds a further registration allowing qualified nursing staff on site at all hours, for needs that are clinical rather than only practical. Every provider listed on this page is registered for residential care. Where an assessment finds that nursing care is needed, the nursing home listings for the same districts are the place to look.
Can Lincolnshire County Council fund a care home placement?
It can, where the needs assessment shows residential care is required and the financial assessment shows the person cannot meet the full cost from income and capital. Anyone with capital above the national threshold normally funds their own placement, while remaining entitled to an assessment and to advice on choosing. Where funding is agreed there is often a limit on the amount payable, and a third party may be asked to contribute towards a more expensive home. Confirm every figure with the authority and with the home rather than relying on general guidance.
How do we arrange a care needs assessment in the Grantham area?
Contact the adult social care team at Lincolnshire County Council and ask for a care needs assessment, which a relative may request on the person's behalf with their agreement. Have ready a brief account of the help needed each day, the conditions involved and any recent hospital treatment. The assessment is free and is not means tested, although the financial assessment that may follow it is. Ask for the outcome in writing, since homes and funders will both work from it.
How far in advance should we start looking for a care home?
As soon as the possibility is raised, because the homes that read best tend to have the fewest vacancies. A few weeks allows time to read the reports properly, visit more than one home and ask awkward questions without a deadline pressing. If a hospital discharge is setting the timetable, say so at your first contact, as it changes how quickly both the authority and the homes can act. Where time is very short, shortlist from the inspection reports and visit only what survives that reading.
