- Care Home
We at Burnt Tree Croft offer a welcoming residential care home in Sheffield, providing dedicated support for older people, adults living with dementia, and younger adults who need a place to call home. Nestled within the local community, our home is a familiar and reassuring presence for families across South Yorkshire searching for compassionate residential care. Set within the S postcode area of Sheffield, our home sits comfortably within its surroundings, offering residents the benefits of a settled neighbourhood whilst remaining accessible for loved ones travelling to visit. The environment has been shaped to feel homely and calm, with communal spaces where residents can gather, chat, and share moments together, alongside quieter areas for reflection or private time with family. We believe that a care home should first and foremost feel like home, and every corner of Burnt Tree Croft is designed with that principle in mind. Our care offering is broad and thoughtfully considered. For older residents, we provide attentive residential care that supports independence whilst ensuring help is always close at hand for daily routines, personal care, and companionship. For those living with dementia, our team takes a patient and person centred approach, focusing on familiar routines, gentle reassurance, and meaningful engagement that respects each person's history and preferences. We also support younger adults whose care needs require a residential setting, recognising that every individual, regardless of age, deserves care tailored to who they are. We understand that families sometimes need a trusted place to turn to for shorter stays, which is why we also offer respite care. Whether a family carer needs a well earned break, someone is recovering from a hospital stay, or a loved one simply needs temporary support, our respite provision offers the same warmth and attentiveness as our longer term care. Families can feel confident that their relative is in kind, capable hands during their stay with us. Our most recent CQC inspection, carried out in August 2025, gave us an overall rating of Requires Improvement. We want to be open and honest with families about this. Within the inspection, our team was rated Good for being effective, caring, and responsive, which reflects the genuine warmth of our staff, the quality of the day to day support residents receive, and the way we tailor care to individual needs. The areas identified for improvement relate to safety and leadership, and we are actively working on strengthening these aspects of our home. We view the inspection as a valuable opportunity to grow, and we are committed to making the changes needed to deliver the very best experience for everyone in our care. Choosing a care home is one of the most important decisions a family can make, and we do not take that trust lightly. If you are exploring options for a loved one in Sheffield, we warmly invite you to get in touch with us, ask questions, and arrange a visit to see our home for yourself. We are here to listen, to reassure, and to walk alongside you as you make the right choice for your family.

Hallamshire Residential Home is in Sheffield, and we provide residential care for older people, including those living with dementia. We are a residential home, so what we offer is support with daily living rather than nursing: help to wash and dress, medication taken properly and on time, meals cooked here and eaten together for those who want the company, and somebody awake and available through the night. It sounds simple set out like that, and much of it is, but doing it reliably and without making people feel like a task on a list takes real attention. Dementia care here depends on continuity. We keep the same staff around the same residents as far as rotas allow, we keep the rhythm of the day predictable and we ask families to tell us about working lives, holidays, music and habits, because knowing somebody's history is what lets us make sense of them on a difficult afternoon. Respite stays are available, whether to give a family carer a planned break or to support somebody through a period of recovery. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Sheffield families are welcome to call in and see the home. Ring us and we will arrange a visit.

We are Aaron House, a residential care home in Sheffield. We provide a home for older people, including those living with dementia, and we also take respite stays. Residential care means supporting people with what has become hard work and leaving everything else where it belongs, which is with the person. Washing and dressing, meals, medication, getting about safely, and the everyday company that makes a day worth having. For health needs beyond our registration we work alongside district nurses and GPs rather than stretching to cover them ourselves. Dementia shapes much of our day. We have found that correcting somebody's version of events achieves nothing at all, and that knowing who a person has been tells us far more than any list of symptoms. A resident who worked for decades in a particular trade or brought up a family in a particular part of the city still carries that, and a conversation that connects with it can change an afternoon completely. Respite guests get the same assessment and the same welcome as anyone living here permanently, whether they are recovering after a spell in hospital or giving a family carer a break. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.

We are a residential care home in Sheffield, providing a home for older people who need help with daily living, including those living with dementia and people with mental health needs. Much of our work is unremarkable, and that is rather the point: helping somebody wash and dress without hurry, sitting with a person who is anxious, remembering how they like their tea and who they want to hear from. Residents keep their own rooms, belongings and routines as far as we can manage and decide how much they want to be part of whatever is happening in the house. Meals are cooked here and we listen when somebody would rather have something else. Dementia care rests on knowing the person rather than following a procedure, so we ask families to tell us about working life, children, music, faith and old habits. That knowledge is worth more than any written plan when somebody is frightened or cannot place where they are. Respite stays are available as well as permanent places. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was requires improvement. We would rather tell you that ourselves than leave you to find it later. We are working through what the inspectors raised and are willing to go through the report with anyone considering the home. Please come and see the place as it really is. Talking to the people who live here will tell you more than we can.

Grange Crescent is a residential care home in Sheffield. We care for older people who need support with daily living, including those living with dementia, and we also support some younger adults. Around that, residents arrange their own time as they wish, and we try not to organise people's lives on their behalf. - Care Home
Rosebank is a residential care home in Sheffield for older people who need help with daily living. We support people living with dementia and people with mental health needs, and we offer respite stays as well as permanent places. Our aim is an ordinary life with the help that makes it possible. People keep their own hours and their own belongings, choose where and with whom to spend the day, and are helped with washing, dressing and moving about as privately and unhurriedly as we can arrange. Meals are cooked here with real choice at each one, and the kitchen will usually make something particular if somebody fancies it. With dementia, knowing a person well is what makes the difference. We gather somebody's history with their family when they arrive and keep adding to it, so that staff respond to the person rather than to a set of behaviours, and we keep the rhythm of the day predictable because that does more good than any amount of organised activity. Where somebody is managing a mental health condition we try to be steady and clear rather than unpredictable. We watch health carefully without turning the house into a clinic, involve the surgery and community teams early, and tell families honestly what is happening, including when something has gone wrong. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated the home good overall.

Taptonholme is a residential care home in Sheffield, providing a settled home for older people who need support with daily living. We care for residents living with dementia, and we offer respite stays for people who need care for a shorter period or whose usual carer needs a rest. We aim for an ordinary life with good support behind it. Residents choose when they get up, how they spend their days and what they eat. Meals are cooked on the premises and preferences are remembered, down to how somebody takes their tea. There is company and activity for those who enjoy it and no pressure on anyone who would rather have peace. Dementia support runs through everything we do. We ask families to tell us about a person's life, their work, their music, their habits and their dislikes, because that knowledge is what allows staff to offer comfort that genuinely comforts. Familiar faces, calm surroundings and an unhurried pace do far more good than any rigid approach. We work closely with local GPs and community nurses so that changes in health are picked up early, and we keep families properly informed rather than ringing only when something has gone wrong. Relatives are welcome whenever it suits them. The Care Quality Commission most recently rated us good overall. Please come and see the home for yourself.

Prior Bank House is a residential care home in Sheffield. We look after older people who need help with daily life but not nursing care, including a good number living with dementia, and we offer respite stays alongside permanent places. What we offer is help with the ordinary day, given properly and without rush. Getting washed and dressed in a way that leaves somebody feeling like themselves. Medicines on time. Meals that are hot, recognisable and worth eating. Help to move about the building safely. Company for people who had been sitting alone for most of the week before they came to us. For residents with dementia the work is mostly about consistency. The same staff, the same rhythms, a bedroom that looks like the person's own room, and a willingness to go at their pace rather than ours. We ask families for the detail that no assessment ever captures, and then we actually use it. We would rather relatives were in the building often than confined to set visiting hours, and we would rather be told promptly when we have got something wrong, because small problems are much cheaper to fix early. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Ring us or simply call in, and we will show you round.

- Care Home
Valley Wood is a residential care home in Sheffield. We provide care for older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia, and we offer respite stays alongside permanent places. Our aim is that this feels like somewhere people live rather than somewhere they have been put. Residents bring their own belongings, keep their own routines and decide how the day goes. We provide help with washing, dressing, medication, meals and getting about, and we are careful to give only as much as is wanted, because doing too much for somebody erodes independence just as surely as doing too little neglects it. Dementia care is a large part of our work. We take time to learn each person's history, their habits and the things that reassure them, because that knowledge is what allows staff to respond to the feeling behind a difficult moment rather than simply to the behaviour in front of them. Familiar faces, a calm environment and a predictable rhythm do most of the rest, and families often tell us it is the ordinary details that count. Respite stays get the same planning and attention as any other admission, whether they are giving a family carer a genuine break or supporting somebody after a spell in hospital. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. You are very welcome to visit Valley Wood and see the home as it ordinarily is.

- Care Home
We are a residential care home in Sheffield, caring for older people and younger adults. We support people living with dementia, people with mental health needs, people with physical disabilities and those affected by sight or hearing loss. Because the people who live here vary a good deal in age and in what they need, we plan support person by person rather than running the house to a single timetable. Somebody in their nineties living with dementia and somebody in their forties recovering their confidence after a long illness do not want the same day, and it would be lazy of us to give them one. Our team helps with personal care, medicines, mobility, meals and the practical parts of daily life, always at the level a person actually needs. For those living with dementia we keep surroundings calm and familiar and train staff to look for the cause of distress instead of simply responding to how it appears. Where sight or hearing loss makes a busy household hard to follow, small consistent adjustments make more difference than anything grand. Respite stays are available for people who need shorter periods of support or whose family carer needs a break, and we plan them as thoroughly as a permanent move. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please come and look round on an ordinary day and ask us whatever you need to know.

Herries Lodge is a residential care home in Sheffield. We provide a home for older people, including many living with dementia, and we also take people for respite stays, whether that is to give a family carer a rest or to help somebody find their feet again after a spell in hospital. We would rather be judged on the ordinary things than on anything grand. Knowing how everyone likes their tea. Remembering which chair belongs to whom. Understanding that one resident wants the radio on all morning and another cannot stand it. Getting somebody up when they wake rather than when it suits the rota. These details are what separate a home from an institution, and we ask about them, write them down and expect them to be followed. Dementia care is a large part of our work, and what helps most is steadiness. Familiar staff, routines that do not change without reason, patience when words are hard to find and a willingness to understand what somebody means rather than what they managed to say. Families are closely involved, because they usually hold the history that makes sense of the present. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. It reflects reliable everyday practice, which is what most families are genuinely looking for. If you are considering a care home in Sheffield for someone close to you, you are welcome to come and look round, meet our staff and residents and ask us anything you like.

Bridgedale House is a residential care home in Sheffield. We look after older people who need help with daily life but not nursing care, including a good number living with dementia, and we offer respite stays alongside permanent places. We are not a nursing home and we are clear with families about where that line falls. What we do is the daily work of helping somebody wash and dress, take their medicines, eat properly, move about safely and stay connected to other people. Done well that is a skilled job and it depends almost entirely on whether staff know the person, so keeping our team is where most of our effort goes rather than into refurbishment. For residents with dementia we have found steadiness beats stimulation. The same faces, meals at the same times, a bedroom that looks like the person's own room, and nothing moved without a reason. Within that there is plenty going on, and a great deal of tea. We ask families for the detail that no assessment ever captures, and we ask them to tell us promptly when we have got something wrong, because small problems are much cheaper to put right early. We are a residential care home in Sheffield, providing a home for older people and for younger adults who need support with daily living. The people who live here include those living with dementia, people with mental health conditions and people with physical disabilities. Supporting that range of needs means paying attention to individuals rather than to categories. Some of the people here need a good deal of help with personal care, medication and moving about. Others need much less of that and a great deal more support with everything else: keeping to arrangements, managing anxiety, getting out of the house and having staff who know when to step in and when to leave well alone. Residents keep their own rooms, belongings and routines as far as we can manage, and they decide how much they want to be part of whatever is happening. Meals are cooked here and we listen when somebody would rather have something different. Where somebody is living with dementia, we spend time learning about their history, work, music and habits, because knowing the person is what allows staff to reassure them when they are frightened. Norwood Grange Care Home is a residential home in Sheffield, offering care to older people and to younger adults, including many residents who are living with dementia. We think a care home should feel like somewhere you live rather than somewhere you have been placed, and most of what we do follows from that. Practically, it means flexible mornings, because not everyone wants to be up and dressed at the same hour. It means meals that people actually look forward to, and a kitchen that will happily make something different for anyone who fancies it. It means keeping a person's own furniture, photographs and habits around them, so that the room they sleep in is recognisably theirs. Dementia care is a large part of our work, and we approach it with patience rather than correction. If someone is anxious, or looking for a person or place from an earlier part of their life, we sit with that feeling rather than argue with it, and we work out what will genuinely settle them. Life history matters here, and we spend real time gathering it. Families are welcome throughout the day, and we would far rather you told us when something is not right than kept it to yourself. We also offer respite stays for people who need care for a few weeks. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.

Springwood is a residential care home in Sheffield. We provide care for older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia, and we welcome guests for respite stays as well as for permanent places. We are a residential home, so the day is built around domestic life rather than around a clinical routine. People get up when they wake, eat what they enjoy, spend time in company or on their own as they prefer, and keep the habits they have always had. Help with washing, dressing, medication and moving about is given as it is needed, in the way each person prefers it. Dementia care asks for a settled environment and a team who know people well, so we work hard on continuity. When a carer knows somebody's history, their family and their particular worries, difficult moments are far easier to ease. Families are welcome here at any reasonable time, and we keep them informed about changes in health or mood rather than waiting for a crisis to make contact. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you are looking at care homes in Sheffield, either for a longer stay or for a short break, do come and visit. Darnall View Residential Home is in Sheffield. We are a permanent home to older people, many of whom are living with dementia, and we also offer respite stays for those needing care for a short period or whose family carer needs a break. We help with the things that have become difficult: getting washed and dressed, moving about safely, medication given properly and on time, eating and drinking well, and having somebody nearby through the night. Where dementia is part of the picture it shapes the whole house rather than one wing of it. We keep the day recognisable, keep familiar staff around people, let residents hold on to their own belongings and habits, and sit with somebody who is upset instead of trying to talk them out of it. Food is cooked here and, in a part of the city as varied as this one, we ask about tastes and about dietary and religious requirements rather than assuming. There is somewhere sociable to sit and somewhere quiet, and families visit whenever they can and are welcome at mealtimes. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Pingley Court Care Home is in Sheffield. We provide residential care for older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia, and we offer respite and short stays. We aim to run a household rather than a facility. Residents bring their own furniture and photographs, keep the routines they have always had and decide for themselves how much they want to be part of what is going on. Nobody is marched off to an activity they have not chosen. When somebody moves in we spend real time on their history and preferences, from what time they wake and how they take their tea to the work they did and the people who matter to them. All of it is written down so that everybody working here knows it, not only whoever carried out the assessment. Dementia support rests on familiarity and pace. We keep staffing as consistent as we can, avoid unnecessary change and work out what settles a particular resident, since it is rarely the same for two people. Families often find this stage harder than the person living through it, and we make time for them too, with honest information rather than comfortable reassurance. Meals are cooked on the premises and residents have a genuine say in the menu. Visitors are welcome through the day and can stay for a meal if the kitchen knows in advance. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please come and look round whenever suits you.

Our support covers personal care, medication, eating well, moving about safely and having somebody about who notices when a resident is not quite themselves. We support people living with dementia, and we rely on continuity: staff who know a person's history and habits, a routine that does not keep changing and reassurance given as often as it is needed. We also care for residents with physical disabilities and those with a visual or hearing impairment, adapting how we communicate and how we help people move about so that independence and dignity are protected. Community health professionals are brought in whenever something more clinical is required. Respite stays are available too, giving family carers a proper rest and letting a prospective resident get the feel of the home first. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good, and we treat that as a standard to hold rather than a badge. Please visit during an ordinary day, meet the people who live here and make up your own mind.

Beechy Knoll Care Home is a residential care home in Sheffield, offering older people a comfortable place to live with support always close at hand. We try to keep the feel of a household rather than an institution, with days led by the people living them. Supporting residents living with dementia is a large part of our work, and we also support adults with a learning disability and autistic adults. In each case the approach begins with knowing the person properly: their history, their habits, what settles them and what does not. Routines are kept familiar, changes explained before they happen, and there is somewhere quiet to go when the house feels busy. Our team helps with personal care, medication, mobility and meals, and equally with conversation, company, fresh air and music for those who want them. Rooms are personalised and relatives are welcome whenever they can come. Respite stays are available for shorter periods. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is Good. - Care Home
Housteads is a residential care home in Sheffield supporting older people, including many living with dementia. We support some younger residents and we offer respite stays. We are a home rather than an institution and we work at keeping that true in practice. People get up when they wake rather than when a rota says so, meals are proper meals eaten with others or alone as someone prefers, and residents choose what to do with their time. Staff learn what a person cares about, and conversation here runs to families, work, gardens and long memories of the city rather than to care. Dementia care takes up much of our attention. We keep the day predictable, the environment calm and the faces familiar, and we take our lead from the person instead of correcting them. When someone is distressed we look for the cause rather than treating the distress itself as the problem, and families are frequently the ones who know the answer. For younger residents we make sure there is something in the day that belongs to their own generation. Respite stays are genuinely welcome. A planned break can be what allows a family carer to keep going, and the person staying is part of the household while they are here. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was good. If you would like to visit, please get in touch.

Midhurst Road Residential Home is a residential care home in Sheffield. We support older people and younger adults who need help with everyday life, including residents living with dementia, and we offer respite stays for people who need care for a shorter period or whose family carer needs a break. We try to run this as a house where people live rather than a place where care is administered. Residents tell us when they prefer to get up, what they like to eat, how much help they want with washing and dressing and how they want to spend the day, and the day is built from those answers rather than from a rota that suits us. Support with personal care, meals, medication and appointments is given quietly and with proper regard for privacy. Dementia care runs through a great deal of what we do. We take time to learn a person's history, the people and places that matter to them and the rhythms that help them feel settled, because that knowledge is what allows us to reassure someone who is anxious rather than correct them. We keep the day predictable and explain changes in advance where we can. Independence is protected wherever it exists, and company matters as much as practical help. Families are welcome whenever they want to visit. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.

We at Brackenfield Hall are proud to offer a warm and welcoming residential care home in Sheffield, providing dedicated older person care and specialist dementia support for those who need it most. Our home has been thoughtfully created to feel like a true extension of family life, where every resident is known, valued, and cared for as an individual. Nestled within the Sheffield community in the wider Yorkshire and Humberside region, our setting offers residents the comfort of familiar surroundings whilst being easily accessible for visiting families and friends. The home is designed to provide a calm, homely atmosphere where residents can relax in communal lounges, enjoy quiet moments in peaceful corners, and feel genuinely at ease in their own private rooms. Every part of our environment has been considered with the wellbeing, dignity, and comfort of older people in mind. Our care focuses on three core areas: residential care for older people who need support with daily living, and specialist dementia care for those navigating the challenges of memory loss and cognitive change. In practice, this means our team takes the time to truly understand each resident, their life story, their preferences, and the small details that make each day meaningful. For families, this translates into peace of mind, knowing that a loved one is being supported by people who care deeply about getting it right. Whether it is gentle encouragement at mealtimes, a familiar routine that brings comfort, or a reassuring presence during a difficult moment, our approach is always centred on the person. We understand that choosing a care home is one of the most important decisions a family can make, and we know that trust must be earned. Our most recent Care Quality Commission inspection, carried out in January 2023, rated us as Good across every domain assessed, including safety, effectiveness, caring, responsiveness, and leadership. This consistent rating reflects the genuine commitment of our team to delivering thoughtful, reliable, and compassionate care every single day. It is a standard we work hard to uphold and continually build upon. If you are exploring care options for a parent, partner, or relative, we warmly invite you to get in touch with us at Brackenfield Hall. We would be delighted to answer your questions, share more about life within our home, and arrange a visit so you can see for yourself the warmth and care we offer. Choosing the right home is a journey, and we are here to walk alongside you with kindness and understanding every step of the way.

Seven Steps Short Breaks is a care home in Sheffield, and short breaks are what we are here for. We offer planned respite for adults with a wide range of needs, including people with a learning disability, people who are autistic, people living with dementia or with mental ill health, people with a physical disability and people with a visual or hearing impairment. We support both younger adults and older people, and we also provide residential care. A short break has to work for two people at once: the person who comes to stay and the family carer who needs the rest. We take both seriously. For the guest, a stay should be something to look forward to, with their own routine respected, their own interests catered for and their communication understood. For the carer at home, it should be a break they can actually relax into, which means being confident that we know what we are doing. We plan stays properly in advance. Where somebody has not been here before, we arrange visits first so that arrival day is not a shock, and we ask families to tell us the detail that makes a difference: what settles somebody, what worries them, and what they like to eat. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please get in touch if you would like to arrange a visit.

We at Park View Residential Care Home are proud to offer a warm and welcoming residential care home in the heart of Sheffield, where compassionate support meets the comfort of a true home. Nestled within the S postcode area of South Yorkshire, our setting has been thoughtfully created to provide a peaceful and supportive environment for every person who walks through our doors. Our home is located in a familiar Sheffield neighbourhood, offering residents the reassurance of being close to the wider community whilst enjoying a calm and homely atmosphere within. The local surroundings of Sheffield provide a comforting sense of place, and we believe that staying connected to one's town and community plays an important role in wellbeing. Families visiting loved ones will find our setting easy to reach, with the welcoming feel that distinguishes a residential care home from a more clinical environment. Inside, we focus on creating spaces that feel familiar and dignified. Our ethos is built around treating each resident as an individual, with their own story, preferences, and routines. From shared communal areas where friendships flourish to quieter corners for reflection or a visit with family, every part of our home is intended to nurture comfort, dignity, and a sense of belonging. The care we provide is shaped around the needs of those we support. We specialise in older person care, residential care, dementia care, and we also welcome younger adults whose needs are best met in a supportive residential setting. For older people, this means daily living support delivered with patience and warmth, encouraging independence whilst offering reassurance whenever it is needed. For those living with dementia, our approach centres on understanding the individual behind the diagnosis. We aim to provide gentle routines, meaningful activities, and a familiar environment that helps reduce anxiety and supports moments of connection and joy. For younger adults in our care, we recognise that needs and aspirations differ, and we strive to offer support that respects independence, personal goals, and individuality. In practice, this means our team takes time to get to know each resident, their life history, the things that bring them comfort, the people who matter to them, and the small details that make each day feel right. Families can take reassurance in knowing that loved ones are supported with kindness and respect, and that communication with relatives is something we value deeply. We understand that choosing a care home is one of the most significant decisions a family can make, and we are committed to being a trusted partner throughout that journey. We are proud that the Care Quality Commission has rated our home as Good overall, with Good ratings across all five key areas of Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well led at our most recent inspection. This independent recognition reflects our ongoing commitment to delivering care that is safe, person centred, responsive to changing needs, and led with integrity. It also serves as a meaningful reassurance to families that the standards within our home are ones they can have confidence in. If you are exploring residential care options in Sheffield for a loved one, we warmly invite you to get in touch with us. Whether you are at the very beginning of your search or ready to arrange a visit, our door is open and our team is here to listen, answer your questions, and help you feel supported every step of the way. At Park View Residential Care Home, we look forward to welcoming you and showing you the genuine care, comfort, and community that make our home a place families can trust.

Outram Fields is a residential care home in Sheffield. We support older people and younger adults who need help with daily living, including people living with dementia, people with a physical disability and people with a visual or hearing impairment. We also take respite bookings. Because people arrive here by different routes, we do not run the home to a single pattern. Some residents need a good deal of hands on support through the day. Others mainly want a settled base, a bit of structure and somebody reliable to check in with. We work out which is which by asking, and we keep asking, because what somebody needs on arrival is rarely what they need a year later. People keep their own belongings around them, choose how the day goes and are not hurried through the parts that take longer than they once did. Families are welcome throughout the day and we would rather they came often and informally than waited for an invitation. Supporting somebody living with dementia takes patience and attention to detail, so our staff learn the particulars that help each person feel secure. We are glad to talk through how we staff the home, how we train people and how we handle concerns. If you are considering residential or respite care in Sheffield, please arrange to come and see us.

Cotleigh is a residential care home in Sheffield. We care for older people and younger adults, including many residents living with dementia, and we offer respite stays. As a residential setting our work is daily life supported well, with community health professionals brought in when they are needed. We try to resist the idea that a care home is somewhere people are looked after and nothing more. Residents here are asked about how the home runs rather than told, keep their own routines where they want to, and bring their own things with them. Being asked what you would like is not a small courtesy when so much else has already been decided for you. Day to day, the work is unremarkable and has to be done consistently. Unrushed help with washing and dressing. Medication managed properly. Food worth looking forward to. Staff who have been here long enough to notice when someone is not themselves. For people living with dementia we keep the routine steady and the faces familiar, and we ask relatives for the details of a life that make conversation possible. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.

Nightingale is a residential care home in Sheffield. We are a permanent home to older people and to some younger adults, and we also offer respite stays for people who need care for a short period or whose regular carer needs a rest. Most of our residents need help with personal care, moving about safely, medication and meals, and reassurance that somebody is nearby at night. A good number are living with dementia, and that shapes how the whole house works rather than one corner of it: a recognisable daily pattern, the same familiar staff, belongings left where their owners put them, and time and company for somebody who is anxious. We also support people living with mental ill health, working alongside community mental health colleagues so that what we do here fits with the rest of a person's care. We try to keep the place feeling ordinary. Food is cooked on the premises and people are asked what they would like, there is somewhere sociable to sit and somewhere quiet, and nobody is obliged to join in with anything. Families visit when it suits them rather than when it suits our rota. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Choosing a care home is hard, so please visit more than once if it helps and ask us the awkward questions.

We are a residential care home in Sheffield, providing a home for older people who need help with daily living, including those living with dementia. Our aim is an unhurried house. A great deal of care is spoiled simply by being rushed, so we try to give people the time to wash, dress and eat at their own pace, and to sit with somebody who wants to talk rather than moving straight on to the next task. Residents keep their own rooms, belongings and routines as far as we can manage, and they decide how much they want to be part of whatever is happening. Meals are cooked here and we pay attention when somebody would rather have something different. Dementia care comes down to knowing the person. We ask families to tell us about working life, children, music, faith and old habits, because that knowledge is what allows a member of staff to reassure somebody who is anxious or cannot place where they are. It is worth a great deal more than any written procedure. Respite stays are available as well as permanent places. A planned break can be what allows a relative to keep providing care at home for longer. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. Families are welcome whenever they wish to come, and we would far rather hear about a problem early. Please come and see the home for yourself.

Blossom View is a respite home in Sheffield, providing short stays for adults with a wide range of needs, including older people, people living with dementia, adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, people living with mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities, people with a visual or hearing impairment, people living with an eating disorder and younger adults. Respite is often talked about as a break for families, and it is that. But it should also be a break for the person coming to stay, and something they look forward to rather than endure. We try to make it a stay somewhere they know and like, with people they recognise, doing things they have chosen. Because stays are short, getting the start right matters enormously. We find out beforehand how somebody communicates, what settles them, what they eat, how they like their day to run and what they would rather avoid. For autistic guests in particular, knowing exactly what is going to happen and when takes most of the difficulty out of a stay away from home. People choose how they spend their time here, and getting out into Sheffield is part of it for those who want to. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We are a residential care home near Sheffield, providing a home for older people and younger adults with a range of needs. The people who live here include those living with dementia, people with mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities and people with loss of sight or hearing. Supporting that range means paying attention to individuals rather than to categories. Nethermoor Care Home is a residential care home near Sheffield supporting older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia, people living with a mental health condition and people with physical disabilities. Our aim is simple to state and takes real work to deliver: a place where people live rather than a place where people are looked after. That means the day belongs to the person. When to get up, where to sit, what to eat, who to see, whether to join in or stay in your room with the door shut. Practical help with washing, dressing, medication and mobility fits around those choices instead of dictating them. Settling in gets particular attention from us. Moving into a care home is a loss even when it is the right decision, and the first weeks tend to set the pattern for everything after. We take time over life histories, encourage people to bring their own things, and let anyone find their own pace. For people living with dementia, and for anyone whose mental health fluctuates, we plan around familiarity and consistency. When somebody is unsettled we look for a cause we can address rather than treating the distress as the problem itself. Respite stays are available for planned family breaks. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is Good. Visitors are welcome without an appointment. Come on an ordinary day, when nothing has been arranged for your benefit.

We are Ladyfield House, a residential care home in Rotherham. We support older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia and people managing a mental health condition. What we provide is residential care rather than nursing care, and we say so plainly to families at the outset so that nobody moves somewhere unable to meet their needs. Within it, we help with washing, dressing and moving about safely, support people with medication, provide proper meals and make sure nobody spends their days alone unless that is what they prefer. The home runs at the pace of its residents. Nobody is woken to suit a rota, mealtimes bend around the person, and how the day is spent is a matter for the individual. For people living with dementia, we work patiently and with their history in view. Where somebody is managing a mental health condition, we work steadily and keep in contact with community teams and GPs so that support joins up. Our staff know residents well enough to notice when somebody is quieter or eating less than usual, and we ring families early rather than waiting. Visitors are welcome whenever they want to come. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. Please get in touch to look round.

For families needing short term support, our respite care offers a trusted place for loved ones to stay, whether following a hospital discharge, during a family holiday, or simply to provide carers with a well earned break. What this means in practice is that residents receive care shaped around who they are, not just what they need. Families can expect open communication, involvement in care planning, and the peace of mind that comes from knowing their loved one is somewhere they are valued as an individual. Following our most recent CQC inspection in October 2025, Davies Court was rated Good overall, with Good ratings across every domain assessed, including safety, effectiveness, caring, responsiveness, and how well the home is led. This consistent recognition reflects the dedication of our team and our ongoing commitment to delivering care that meets the high standards families rightly expect. It also offers reassurance that the care provided here is safe, thoughtful, and continually reviewed. Choosing a care home is one of the most important decisions a family can make, and we understand the weight of that choice. If you are exploring options for a loved one in Sheffield or the wider Rotherham area, we warmly invite you to get in touch, ask questions, and discover whether Davies Court could be the right home for your family. We are here to listen, to guide, and to welcome you whenever you are ready.

- Care Home
We at Woodlands Care Home are proud to offer residential care in the welcoming community of Sheffield, providing a warm and supportive home for older people and adults with a wide range of needs. Nestled within the Rotherham local authority area, our home is a place where compassion, dignity, and individuality guide everything we do. Our setting has been thoughtfully designed to feel like a true home rather than an institution. Located within the S postcode area, we benefit from the familiar surroundings of the Yorkshire and Humberside region, whilst offering residents a peaceful retreat from the pace of everyday life. Communal areas encourage friendship and shared moments, and quieter spaces allow for reflection, family visits, and personal time. We believe that the environment in which someone lives has a profound impact on their wellbeing, and we work hard to ensure ours feels safe, comfortable, and genuinely welcoming from the moment you step through the door. Our specialisms reflect the diverse needs of the people we support. We provide residential care for older people, alongside dedicated dementia care for those living with memory loss and cognitive change. For residents with learning disabilities or autism, we offer person centred support that respects each individual's preferences, routines, and communication style. We also welcome younger adults, people with physical disabilities, and those with visual or hearing impairments, adapting our approach so that every resident feels understood and valued. Respite care is available too, offering families the reassurance of short term support when they need a trusted place for their loved one to stay, whether following a hospital discharge, during a family holiday, or simply to allow a regular carer time to rest and recharge. In practice, this breadth of specialism means that our team takes the time to truly understand each person who lives with us. We build care around the individual, not the other way around. For families, this brings peace of mind, knowing that their relative is being supported by people who see them as a whole person, with a life story, preferences, hobbies, and relationships that matter. Whether it is remembering a favourite meal, supporting a cherished routine, or simply sharing a conversation over a cup of tea, these are the moments that make our home feel like home. Woodlands Care Home is currently awaiting its first CQC inspection and therefore does not yet hold a published overall rating. Whilst we look forward to welcoming the Care Quality Commission and demonstrating the standards we uphold every day, we want families to know that the absence of a current rating does not reflect the quality of care being delivered. Our team is committed to meeting and exceeding regulatory expectations, and we are always happy to speak openly with prospective residents and their loved ones about our approach, our staff training, and the ways we monitor and improve the care we provide. Choosing a care home is one of the most significant decisions a family can make, and we understand the weight of that choice. We know that behind every enquiry is a son, daughter, partner, or friend who wants the very best for someone they love. If you are considering residential care, dementia support, or respite in Sheffield, we would be delighted to hear from you. Please get in touch to arrange a visit, meet our team, and see for yourself the warmth and care that define daily life at Woodlands Care Home. We are here to listen, to answer your questions, and to help you take the next step with confidence.

Arranging and funding a dementia care home place in Sheffield
Dementia changes what a good home looks like. Kindness matters everywhere, but here the building, the routine and the training of the people in it carry unusual weight. A home that suits someone in the early stages may not suit them in three years, so it is worth asking how the place adapts as things change.
Reading the ratings across these thirty six homes
Twenty nine of the homes listed hold a Good rating from the Care Quality Commission. Four are rated Requires Improvement, two have not yet been rated, and one carries an Inadequate rating, which is the regulator's most serious judgement and deserves careful attention to the report itself before any visit is arranged. In every case the grade is a summary, not the evidence. The report explains what was found, in which of the five inspection areas, and how recently, and a family reading it will learn far more than the single word conveys.
The environment and the daily rhythm
Ask how the home helps people find their own way about: clear sightlines, contrasting colours on doors and handrails, good natural light and somewhere safe to walk when restlessness sets in. Ask what happens in the late afternoon, when agitation is common, and what the home does instead of reaching for medication. Ask whether familiar objects and furniture can come from home, and whether routines are built around the person rather than the rota.
Staff training and continuity
Ask what dementia specific training the staff have had, who delivers it and how often it is refreshed. Ask how many carers are on duty at night, since that is when distress often peaks. Ask how long the team has been in post, because people living with dementia rely on recognising faces more than most of us appreciate. A home where the same carers appear week after week is doing something right.
Choosing between dementia care homes in Sheffield
The assessment that comes first
Anyone who appears to need care can be assessed, free of charge, whatever their income or capital. The assessment records what a person can still do, where support is needed and what risks exist, and it should take account of how memory and understanding affect daily life. Request it through Sheffield City Council adult social care, and ask for a carer's assessment in your own right if you have been holding things together at home. Where someone may lack capacity to make the decision themselves, the assessment process should involve them as far as possible and consider their best interests.
How the bill is divided
A financial assessment follows and compares capital and income with national thresholds. Above the upper threshold, fees are paid privately; below it the council contributes on a sliding calculation while the resident pays a share from income. Some people with substantial ongoing health needs qualify instead for continuing healthcare funding from the National Health Service, which is worth asking about where nursing needs are significant. Request every calculation in writing.
What dementia care costs cover
Fees vary between homes and between rooms, and homes with higher staffing ratios for dementia support often sit at the upper end. Ask exactly what the weekly figure includes and what is billed separately, such as hairdressing, chiropody or escorted appointments. Ask what happens to the fee if needs increase substantially. Comparing quotations only works once you know what each one buys.
Frequently asked questions about dementia care homes in Sheffield
How many dementia care homes are there in Sheffield?
Sheffield has 36 CQC registered care homes that are registered for dementia care, out of 84 CQC registered care homes in Sheffield: 30 Good, 4 Requires improvement, 1 Inadequate, 1 not yet rated. Counts come from the CQC register and are kept up to date as ratings change.
Which dementia care homes in Sheffield were inspected most recently?
Aaron House (22 September 2026), Westbourne House (28 July 2026) and Outram Fields (25 June 2026) have the most recent CQC reports.
Which homes in Sheffield provide dementia care?
Thirty six care homes in Sheffield registered to support people living with dementia appear in this collection. Each has a profile on Care Assura showing its current published rating and linking to the inspection report behind it. All are registered with the Care Quality Commission, which inspects and rates adult social care in England. Filtering by grade and by how easily family can visit is usually the fastest way to reach a shortlist.
What is the difference between a dementia care home and a dementia nursing home?
A dementia care home provides accommodation and personal care with staff trained to support memory loss, confusion and changes in behaviour. A dementia nursing home offers the same but also has registered nurses on duty at all hours, so clinical needs can be met without moving somewhere else. The distinction sits in each provider's registration and determines who a home may admit. Where swallowing difficulties, advanced frailty or complex medication are part of the picture, a nursing registered home is usually the safer choice.
What should we ask when visiting a dementia care home in Sheffield?
Ask what dementia training the staff receive and how often it is updated, and how many carers work overnight. Ask how the home responds when someone becomes distressed or wants to walk, and what is tried before any medication is considered. Ask whether a resident can bring familiar furniture and keep their own routine for waking, eating and bathing. Ask as well how families are kept informed and how the home handles a concern once it has been raised.
How do we arrange a care needs assessment in Sheffield?
Contact Sheffield City Council and ask for an adult social care needs assessment. The request can come from the person themselves, from a relative or friend, or from a GP, memory clinic or hospital team. The assessment is free and available regardless of savings or income. Its written outcome sets out what support is required and becomes the foundation for choosing a home and for any funding decision that follows.
Will Sheffield City Council pay for a dementia care home placement?
It may, where the needs assessment establishes that residential dementia care is required and the financial assessment shows capital below the national upper threshold. Any contribution is worked out on a sliding scale, with the resident normally paying something from income as well. Where health needs are substantial, funding from the National Health Service through continuing healthcare may apply instead, so it is worth asking for that to be considered. Request the calculations in writing so that they can be checked.
How far ahead should we start looking at dementia care homes?
As early as the diagnosis allows, because good dementia homes fill up and a crisis leaves very little choice. Looking early also means the person can visit and express a view while they are still able to weigh it up. A calm sequence is to request the assessment, shortlist a few homes and visit more than once before anything is decided. Should a hospital stay force the timing, a short term placement can hold the position while the family looks properly.
