- Care Home
Highview Home is a residential care home in Dudley, supporting older people, including many residents living with dementia. We are a residential setting, so our work is about everyday life supported well, with community health professionals brought in when they are needed. What we aim for is fairly simple to describe and takes real discipline to do consistently. Help with washing and dressing given at a sensible pace and in a way that protects someone's dignity. Medication managed properly. Meals people actually want to eat, with company at the table. Staff who know a resident well enough to notice when something is not right. For people living with dementia, familiarity does much of the work, so we keep our staffing steady and the daily rhythm predictable, and we take the trouble to learn a person's history so a conversation has somewhere to go. Families are usually our best source of those details. Respite stays are available for people who need a break from caring at home or who want support while recovering from illness. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We would rather say that plainly than have someone find out later. We have a clear plan for the areas identified and we are working through it, and we would welcome anyone considering us to ask exactly what has changed.

- Care Home
Castleview is a residential care home in Dudley. Those living here include older people, many living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, people with physical disabilities and people living with sight or hearing loss. We support younger adults too, and respite stays are part of what we do. A household this mixed means one routine will not fit everybody, so we work out individually what a good day looks like for each person. For some that is company and something going on, and for others it is being left largely alone, which we treat as an equally reasonable preference. Where a resident communicates differently, whether through sight, hearing or anything else, we settle that properly at the start and everybody uses the same approach. It is the thing most often left half finished. Where somebody can do a thing themselves we support them to keep at it even when stepping in would be quicker. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We keep asking residents and their families what we should be doing differently, and we act on it rather than recording it.

At Richmond Residential Lodge, we provide a warm and homely environment for the people who live with us here in Dudley. We are a residential care home supporting a wide range of needs, and we take pride in knowing each person as an individual rather than simply as a resident. We support older adults, people living with dementia, those with mental health needs, physical disabilities, and visual or hearing impairments. We also welcome younger adults and offer respite care for those who need a shorter stay, whether that is to recover after a hospital admission or to give a family carer some time to rest. Whatever brings someone to us, we want them to feel at ease from the moment they arrive. Our team work hard to create a genuine sense of community here. Days are shaped around what matters to the people living with us, whether that means joining in with activities, spending quiet time in comfortable surroundings, or simply having a good conversation over a cup of tea. We believe that feeling heard and respected makes a real difference to everyday wellbeing, and that guides everything we do. Families are an important part of life at Richmond Residential Lodge. We encourage loved ones to stay involved and to visit as they wish, and we make a point of keeping communication open and honest so that everyone feels informed and included. We are pleased to hold a "Good" rating from the Care Quality Commission, which reflects the effort and commitment of our whole team. We do not take that for granted and we continue to look for ways to improve the experience for those in our care. If you would like to find out more about whether Richmond Residential Lodge might be the right fit for you or someone you care about, we would love to hear from you.

Here at Himley Manor Care Home, we are proud to be a trusted part of the Dudley community, providing a warm and supportive environment where older adults can feel genuinely at home. Our team works hard every day to make sure that each person in our care is treated with dignity, respect and real kindness. We offer residential care, dementia care and respite care for older people, meaning we are well placed to support a wide range of needs as circumstances change over time. Whether someone is joining us for a short stay to recover or rest, or making Himley Manor their permanent home, we put a great deal of thought into making sure the transition feels as comfortable and reassuring as possible. Dementia care is an area we take particularly seriously. We understand how important familiarity, routine and a calm environment are for people living with dementia, and our team is trained to offer support that is both thoughtful and responsive to each individual. We take time to get to know the people we support, their histories, their preferences and what genuinely matters to them. Our most recent Care Quality Commission inspection rated us as Good, which we are pleased about, though we see it as a reflection of our ongoing commitment rather than a final destination. We continue to look for ways to improve and to listen carefully to residents and their families. Families play a really important role here. We encourage open communication and want relatives to feel welcome and involved in the life of their loved one. If you are exploring care options in the Dudley area and would like to find out more about what we offer at Himley Manor, we would be very happy to have a conversation.

- Care Home
Ashbourne Care Home is in Dudley, and we provide residential care for older people who can no longer manage on their own. A large part of our work is caring for people living with dementia. We are not a nursing home, and it is worth saying so plainly. What we offer is residential care: help with washing and dressing, medication given on time, meals cooked here, laundry done, and staff on duty through the night as well as the day. Doctors and district nurses come in when clinical care is needed. For a great many people this is the right level of support, and it takes far less from their independence than a clinical setting would. Dementia asks something particular of a home. It asks for a day that runs in a familiar order, for surroundings that are easy to make sense of, and for staff who do not correct or argue but go where the person is. We take time to learn about somebody's working life, family and habits, because that is what allows us to understand them when words begin to fail. Beyond the help they need, residents run their own days, and visitors are welcome rather than merely tolerated. Respite and short stays are available. Please ring us if you would like to look round Ashbourne and talk things over.

We at Belvidere Residential Care Home offer a warm and welcoming residential care setting in the heart of Dudley, providing compassionate support to older adults and younger residents alike across the West Midlands. Our home is a place where dignity, comfort, and genuine kindness sit at the centre of everything we do. Nestled within the DY postcode area of Dudley, our home benefits from a familiar community feel, with local amenities and green spaces nearby. The setting has been thoughtfully arranged to feel homely and calm, offering residents a peaceful environment in which to relax, socialise, and feel truly at ease. Families visiting loved ones will find a welcoming atmosphere designed to put both residents and relatives at ease from the moment they walk through the door. Our team supports a wide range of needs, offering residential care for older people, specialised dementia care, and support for adults living with mental health conditions, physical disabilities, or visual and hearing impairments. We also welcome younger adults who require tailored support, as well as those in need of short term respite care. In practice, this means each resident receives a personalised approach that considers not only their physical wellbeing but also their emotional, social, and cognitive needs. For families, it offers reassurance that a loved one is being cared for by a team experienced in supporting complex and varied circumstances, whether that involves memory loss, sensory challenges, or the need for a gentle, patient hand during daily routines. Respite care is an important part of what we do, giving family carers the opportunity to take a well earned break in the knowledge that their loved one is being looked after in a safe, comfortable, and stimulating environment. Whether the stay is for a few days or several weeks, we work hard to make every guest feel genuinely at home. Our most recent CQC inspection, carried out in May 2022, gave us an overall rating of Requires Improvement. We are proud that inspectors recognised our team as Good in both the Caring and Responsive domains, reflecting the warmth, attentiveness, and person centred approach our staff bring to daily life at the home. We take the areas identified for improvement seriously and are fully committed to strengthening every aspect of our provision, particularly around safety, effectiveness, and leadership. For families, this transparency matters, and we welcome open conversations about the steps we are taking to enhance the quality of care we provide. Choosing a care home is one of the most important decisions a family can make, and we understand how much thought, emotion, and care goes into that choice. If you are exploring options for a loved one in Dudley or the wider West Midlands, we warmly invite you to get in touch, arrange a visit, and see for yourself the compassion and community spirit that define life at Belvidere Residential Care Home. Camelot Rest Home is a residential care home in Dudley caring for older people who need support with everyday life, including residents living with dementia. We also support some younger adults. What we provide is help with the ordinary things: assistance to wash and dress, medication managed properly and on time, meals cooked on the premises, support to move about safely and staff available through the night. Beyond that we try not to organise people's lives for them. Residents decide when they get up, where they spend the day and who they want to see. Dementia care here depends on continuity. Familiar faces, a predictable rhythm and surroundings that stay where they are expected remove a good deal of anxiety, so we plan rotas accordingly and take time to learn about each resident's life from their family. Knowing that somebody spent years in a particular trade, or has always hated being fussed over, is genuinely useful information. Respite stays are available, whether to give a family carer a proper break or to help somebody regain confidence after illness. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Families across Dudley are welcome to visit. Please ring and we will show you round.

Stoneleigh House is a residential care home in Dudley. We look after older people who need support with daily living, and we also support adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults, people managing mental health conditions and people with physical disabilities. The range of people we support is wider than in many homes, and we think that is a strength rather than a complication. It means we plan around the individual. What does somebody need, what can they still do perfectly well for themselves, and what do they want their day to look like. We aim for a calm, ordinary household. Residents bring their own belongings, keep their own routines, choose how they spend their time and see visitors when they like. For residents living with dementia, familiar surroundings, unhurried staff and a predictable day do more good than anything else we could provide. For autistic residents we take particular care over predictability, quiet space and clear information about what is coming next. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places, whether to give a family carer a planned break or to support somebody through a difficult period. The Care Quality Commission rated us good at our most recent inspection. Please come and see us at a time that suits you and ask us whatever you need to ask.

Micron House is a residential care home in Dudley. We look after older people who can no longer manage at home, including a good number living with dementia, and we offer respite stays as well as permanent places. We are not a large or an elaborate home, and we do not pretend to be. What we offer is help with the ordinary day, given properly and without rush. Getting washed and dressed in a way that leaves somebody feeling like themselves. Medicines on time. Meals that are hot, recognisable and worth eating. Help to move about the building safely. Company for people who had been sitting alone for most of the week before they came to us. For residents with dementia, the work is mostly about consistency. The same staff, the same rhythms, a bedroom that looks like the person's own, and a willingness to go at their pace rather than ours. We ask families for the details that no assessment ever captures. What she did for a living, what he cannot abide, which songs they know all the words to. We want relatives in the building often. Visit, join a meal, take your mother out for the afternoon, and tell us when we have got something wrong. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Oak House is a residential care home in Dudley supporting a broad range of adults. Many of our residents are older people, including those living with dementia, and we also support adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, people with a physical disability, residents living with sight or hearing loss and younger adults. That range means assessment matters. Before anybody moves in we want to be sure we can meet their needs properly and that the placement will work for them and for the people already living here, and we say so honestly when we think we are not the right place. Support is planned one person at a time. For one resident that may mean help with most of the day, including personal care and help to move safely. For another it may mean very little practical help but a good deal of structure and staff who understand how they communicate. We also support people living with eating disorders, working alongside the health professionals involved and without judgement at mealtimes. For residents living with dementia we keep the house familiar and the staff consistent. Where there is sight or hearing loss we adapt how we communicate and do not move things without saying so. Respite stays are available and give family carers a proper break. Please contact us if you would like to visit and see how the home runs.

Park Lane House is a residential care home in Dudley. We support older people and younger adults, and our experience covers dementia, mental health needs and physical disabilities. Respite stays are part of what we do. With that range of people we build round individuals rather than running one routine and expecting everybody to fit it. Before anyone moves in we spend time with them and whoever they want involved, learning how they like their days to go, what they manage perfectly well themselves, where help would be welcome and what they would rather we left alone. That becomes the plan, and it is theirs to change. Help with washing, dressing, mobility, medication and health appointments is given as the person has asked and recorded carefully, so it happens the same way whoever is on shift. Rooms and equipment get real thought, because independence often turns on whether something is within reach and whether help arrives at the moment it is wanted. With dementia we lean on knowing somebody well, gathering their history with their family and keeping it current. Where somebody is managing a mental health condition we aim to be steady and clear rather than unpredictable. Meals are cooked here with real choice. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated the home good overall, and visitors are welcome.

Ridgeway Court is a residential care home in Dudley, providing a permanent home for adults who need care and support with everyday life. We aim for a household where people are known properly rather than looked after efficiently. Our care is residential rather than nursing. We help with personal care, medication, meals, mobility and company, and we bring in community health professionals when something more clinical is needed. Many of our residents live with dementia, and we rely on the quiet things that genuinely help: familiar staff who know a person's history, a routine that stays where it is and reassurance repeated as often as it is wanted. We care for residents with physical disabilities and those with a visual or hearing impairment, adapting how we communicate and how we help people move about so that dignity and independence are protected. We support younger adults too, planning their interests and routines on their own terms. Respite stays are available, giving family carers a real break and letting somebody try the home before a permanent decision is made. Please visit on an ordinary day, speak to the people who live here and form your own impression of the place.

- Care Home
We at Sedgley Court warmly welcome you to our residential care home in Dudley, a place where compassionate support, dignity and a true sense of community come together to create a home that families across the West Midlands can trust. Nestled within the DY postcode area, our home enjoys a setting that balances the familiarity of local life with the calm, comfortable surroundings that make daily living feel relaxed and reassuring. Residents benefit from communal spaces designed for connection, quieter corners for reflection, and an environment carefully maintained to feel welcoming from the moment you step through the door. Whether enjoying a cup of tea with friends, spending time with visiting loved ones, or simply taking in the atmosphere of a friendly home, our residents are supported to live each day with comfort and choice. Our specialisms reflect the diverse needs of the people we care for. We provide dedicated residential care for older people, alongside thoughtful and person centred dementia care that focuses on familiarity, gentle routines and meaningful engagement. For residents living with mental health needs, we offer understanding and consistent support that promotes confidence and wellbeing. We also welcome younger adults, recognising that good care is shaped around the individual rather than the age on a calendar. Residents with visual or hearing impairments receive sensitive support designed to help them navigate daily life with independence and reassurance, whilst our respite care offers families a trusted option when a loved one needs short term support, recovery time, or when carers at home need a well earned break. In practice, this means residents and their families can expect care that adapts as needs change, delivered by a team committed to listening, learning and responding with kindness. We believe in supporting the whole person, encouraging hobbies, conversation, and the small everyday moments that make a house feel like a home. For families, it means knowing that your loved one is somewhere they are seen, valued and genuinely cared for. We are proud that our most recent CQC inspection, carried out in June 2022, rated us Good overall, with Good ratings across all five domains of Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well led. This independent recognition reflects the consistent standards we strive to uphold every day and offers families an added layer of reassurance when making such an important decision. Choosing a care home is one of the most significant choices a family can make, and we understand the questions and emotions that come with it. If you are exploring options for a loved one in Dudley or the wider Staffordshire and West Midlands area, we would be delighted to hear from you, answer your questions and help you discover whether Sedgley Court could be the right next chapter.

- Care Home
Greenleigh is a residential care home in Dudley. We are home to older people, including many living with dementia, and we support younger adults too. We also offer respite stays for families who need a planned break. Most of what makes a care home good happens quietly and every day. Food people actually want to eat. Being helped to the bathroom without waiting. Laundry that comes back. Knowing the name of whoever is on this evening. Somebody noticing that you have been quieter than usual for a few days. That is where we try to keep our attention rather than on anything that reads well at a distance. For people living with dementia we keep the day predictable and the surroundings unchanged, and we ask families for the history that lets us understand what somebody means rather than only what they say. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We would rather write that here than have a family discover it elsewhere and wonder why we said nothing. We accept what was identified and we are working through it, and we will not claim in a paragraph that it is all behind us. Anybody considering us should come without an appointment, talk to residents and relatives away from staff, and press us for specifics about what has changed.

Arranging and funding a dementia care home place in Dudley
A move into a dementia care home is rarely planned far ahead. It usually follows a crisis, or a gradual loss of safety at home that reaches a point where nobody can pretend otherwise. Dealing with the assessment and the funding early, even before a home is in mind, takes considerable pressure off the decision itself and prevents a family committing to somewhere that cannot meet the level of need.
The Care Needs Assessment
Anyone who appears to need care can request a free care needs assessment, and savings are irrelevant at this stage because it is not means tested. It is arranged through Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council adult social care, the authority responsible for assessing what a person needs and for arranging funded support where they qualify. Where dementia is involved the assessment matters especially, because it needs to capture supervision requirements and night time risk rather than simply help with washing and dressing. Understating those is the commonest reason a placement breaks down early.
Meeting the Cost
A financial assessment then examines income and capital and decides whether the council contributes to fees, covers them in full, or whether the family pays. Weekly fees include the room, meals and personal care, with hairdressing, chiropody and outings billed separately. Some homes charge a higher rate for a place on a dementia unit, so ask directly whether that applies and request the current weekly figure in writing along with what would cause it to rise.
Support for the Carer
A relative who has been providing care can ask for a carer assessment in their own right. It is free, separate from the assessment of the person with dementia, and often the route through which practical support is arranged.
Choosing between dementia care homes in Dudley
Training and How Distress Is Handled
Ask what dementia training staff receive, who provides it and how often it is refreshed. Then ask what the home actually does when a resident becomes agitated, frightened or wants to leave. Listen for answers about knowing the person and finding the cause rather than answers that centre on medication. Ask how many residents are prescribed medicines for agitation and how often those prescriptions are reviewed, because a home willing to discuss that openly is usually one handling it carefully.
The Building and the Day
Look at whether corridors are easy to follow and bedroom doors easy to tell apart, and whether there is somewhere safe to walk for someone who needs to keep moving. Notice the lighting and the noise, both of which affect confusion markedly. Ask whether residents can bring familiar furniture and photographs, and how the home learns about a new resident's working life and habits so that night staff know them too.
Reading the Published Judgements
Thirteen homes here are rated Good and four are rated Requires Improvement. Where a home falls into that second group, read the report rather than discarding it, noting whether the concerns bore on care and safety or on records and governance, and how recent the inspection was. Homes often change quickly after a critical report, and the date matters as much as the wording.
Frequently asked questions about dementia care homes in Dudley
How many dementia care homes are there in Dudley?
Dudley has 17 CQC registered care homes that are registered for dementia care, out of 24 CQC registered care homes in Dudley: 12 Good, 5 Requires improvement. Counts come from the CQC register and are kept up to date as ratings change.
Which dementia care homes in Dudley were inspected most recently?
Ridgeway Court Care Home (2 June 2026), Stoneleigh House (29 May 2026) and Himley Manor Care Home (12 May 2026) have the most recent CQC reports.
How do I arrange a care needs assessment in Dudley?
Contact the adult social care team at Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council and ask for a care needs assessment, for yourself or on behalf of a relative. The assessment is free and is not means tested, so savings and income do not affect your right to have one. Where dementia is involved, make sure supervision needs and night time risk are discussed, since these are easily understated and matter greatly to whether a placement holds. Anyone providing regular unpaid care should request a carer assessment at the same time.
Can Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council fund a dementia care home placement?
It can, where the person has been assessed as needing residential dementia care and the financial assessment shows they qualify for help with the cost. Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council handles both stages, agreeing the level of need and then reviewing income and capital to set any contribution. Some people are funded in full, others pay a share of the weekly fee, and many meet the cost themselves. Having an assessment recorded is worthwhile even for self funders, because it establishes the agreed level of need as the condition progresses.
Which providers in Dudley offer dementia care?
Seventeen residential care homes in Dudley are registered to support people living with dementia, and all of them appear on this page with a published inspection rating. They range from smaller homes with a single dementia unit to larger houses organised entirely around dementia support. Availability changes week by week, so it is worth contacting more than one even where you have a preference. Each listing opens into a profile setting out the inspection detail behind the rating.
What is the difference between a dementia care home and a dementia nursing home?
A residential dementia care home provides personal care and supervision from trained care staff, which suits people whose needs centre on safety, routine and help with daily living. A dementia nursing home is additionally registered to keep qualified nurses on site, mattering where someone has clinical needs such as wound care, injections or swallowing difficulties alongside their dementia. Every provider listed on this page is registered as a residential care home rather than a nursing home. If an assessment identifies nursing needs, it will direct you towards nursing registered provision instead.
How far ahead should I start looking for a dementia care home in Dudley?
Start earlier than feels necessary, because dementia placements are harder to match than general residential ones and the right home may not have a vacancy when it is needed. Two to three months allows time to visit more than once, read the inspection reports and complete the assessments without pressure. Visiting twice matters particularly here, since a single tour rarely shows how a home handles a difficult afternoon. Where a hospital discharge is setting the timetable, say so when you ring.
What should I ask when visiting a dementia care home in Dudley?
Ask what dementia training the staff receive, who delivers it and how often it is refreshed. Ask what the home does when a resident becomes distressed or tries to leave, listening for answers about knowing the person rather than about medication. Find out how the home learns a new resident's history and habits and how that information reaches staff on a night shift. Ask whether there is a secure garden and whether residents may bring their own furniture and photographs.
