About Upfield
We are a residential care home in Horley, supporting adults with a learning disability and autistic adults to live well in a setting that feels like an ordinary home rather than an institution. The people who live here are adults with their own preferences, routines and opinions, and our job is to support those rather than to smooth them away. Support is built around the individual. For some people that means help with personal care and daily living; for others it is about getting out, keeping up with interests, managing money, cooking, or having someone alongside in situations that would otherwise feel overwhelming. We pay close attention to how a person communicates and to the things in their surroundings that help them feel settled, because getting those right prevents a great deal of distress. We also support people with a physical disability and people with a visual or hearing impairment, adapting the way we work and the way the house is arranged so that people can do as much for themselves as possible. Respite stays are available, which can give families a planned break and can give someone the chance to get used to us gradually. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We keep asking the people who live here, in the ways that work for them, whether they are happy with how things are going. If you would like to look round, please get in touch and we will arrange a visit.
