About Silverbirch House Care Home
We are Silverbirch House, a residential care home in Guildford. We care for older people and for younger adults, and a good number of the people living with us are living with dementia. What we offer is straightforward residential care done properly: help with washing, dressing and moving about, support with medication, good food, warm rooms and company when it is wanted. We are not a nursing home, and we are clear with families about that, because the worst outcome for anybody is being placed somewhere that cannot meet their needs. The home runs at the pace of the people in it. Nobody is woken to fit a rota. Meals are things people look forward to rather than events on a schedule. Some residents like the lounge and the conversation, others prefer their own room, and there is no right answer. Dementia care here is built on knowing the person. We learn about the work someone did, the places they lived, the music that still reaches them, and we use that rather than correcting or reorienting people. It makes for calmer days. Relatives are welcome at any time and we keep them properly in the picture, particularly when something changes. We offer respite stays alongside permanent places. Our most recent CQC overall rating is good. Please get in touch if you would like to arrange a visit.
