About Albury Care Homes
Albury Care Homes provides residential care near Guildford for older people, including those living with dementia and residents with sight or hearing loss. We are not a nursing home, so our strengths are personal care, a settled daily rhythm and knowing everybody who lives here as a person rather than a set of needs. We help with washing and dressing, medication, meals and whatever else has become hard to manage, at the pace of the person and not the pace of a rota. Residents decide when they get up and go to bed, where they sit, what they eat and whether they want company or a quiet afternoon on their own. For residents living with dementia we keep the surroundings familiar and the staff consistent, explain what is happening as we go and try to work out what lies behind a change in mood instead of treating it as a symptom. Where somebody has sight or hearing loss we adapt how we communicate, say who we are as we come into a room and take care not to move things without mentioning it. Meals are cooked here and we ask people what they actually fancy. Being in this part of Surrey means somewhere pleasant to sit outside and countryside close at hand. Respite stays are available for family carers needing a break or for somebody recovering after illness. You are welcome to visit and ask us anything.
