About Douglas Close
Douglas Close is a residential care home in Guildford, Surrey. We support adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults, people with physical disabilities and older people, including younger adults who are moving into a home of their own for the first time. We also offer respite stays. Supporting that range of people well means being specific rather than general. For somebody with a physical disability, it means getting the equipment, the seating and the access right so that they can do as much for themselves as possible. For an autistic person, it may mean keeping the environment calm and predictable and preparing for changes in good time. For an older resident, it may simply mean unhurried help with personal care and medication and somebody nearby at night. We write each plan with the individual and we review it properly. Day to day we help with meals, appointments, money and personal care, and we help people get out to whatever they are interested in, whether that is work, a course, a club, a place of worship or a regular visit to family. Guildford has plenty to offer and we are willing to do the planning it takes. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Anyone considering a placement is welcome to visit and see how the house runs.
