About Northway Lodge
Northway Lodge is a residential care home in Guildford in Surrey. We support older people and younger adults, including people managing mental health conditions, people living with sight or hearing loss, and people working through difficulties with alcohol or drugs. Respite stays are available. Supporting mental health and recovery in a residential setting is largely a matter of steadiness rather than intervention. We keep to arrangements we have made. We notice when somebody seems unlike themselves without turning it into an interrogation. We make it easy to talk without a formal appointment, and we are as reliable on the difficult weeks as on the good ones. Recovery rarely runs in a straight line and our job is not to be surprised by that, or to judge. This is people's home and we treat it accordingly. Rooms are theirs to arrange. People decide how their days go, who they see, whether they want company or their own space. We knock before we come in, we ask rather than assume, and we are quite prepared to be disagreed with. Where people are working with community mental health teams, specialist services, GPs or social workers, we join up with them properly rather than running alongside them. We have not yet been given an overall rating by the Care Quality Commission. You are very welcome to visit, look around and ask us whatever you need to know.
