About Sutton Lodge
Sutton Lodge is a residential care home in Sutton in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. We support older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia, people with physical disabilities and people with visual or hearing impairment, and we offer respite stays as well as permanent places. We try to run this as a home rather than an institution. Residents bring their own things, keep their own routines and make their own decisions about the shape of the day, and our job is to provide the right amount of help with washing, dressing, medication, meals and mobility without taking over what somebody can still do themselves. Dementia care is a significant part of our work. We spend time learning each person's history, habits and the things that reassure them, because that is what allows staff to respond to the feeling behind a difficult moment rather than simply to the behaviour. Where a resident has a sight or hearing impairment we adapt how we communicate and are careful to keep things where they expect to find them. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We would rather say that plainly than have you discover it elsewhere. We know which areas were identified, we are working through them with the whole team, and if you visit we will tell you honestly where we have got to and what is still in hand. Families are welcome at Sutton Lodge, and we would much rather hear a concern early.
