About 41 West Hill
41 West Hill is a small residential care home in Sutton in Ashfield, and we support adults with learning disabilities and autistic people, including younger adults working towards a more independent life. Respite stays are available as well. Being a small house is deliberate. Being properly known by the people who support you affects every hour of the day, and that is far easier here than in a large setting. The staff team stays consistent, the shape of the week holds, changes are explained before they happen, and we pay attention to noise, light and the other sensory details that decide whether somebody can settle or not. Support covers personal care, medication, meals, money and the practical business of running a home, and wherever we can we do things alongside people rather than for them. If somebody can make their own breakfast with a prompt, that is a much better outcome than us making it for them. We are just as interested in what happens beyond the front door. College, work or voluntary work, hobbies, friendships and family visits all matter, and supporting those is part of the job rather than something we get to when there is time. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Families, social workers and anyone considering the house for somebody they support are welcome to visit and ask us anything at all.
