About Stoneyford Care Home
We are Stoneyford Care Home in Sutton in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. We provide residential care for older people, including those living with dementia, and we also support younger adults and people with physical disabilities. Respite stays are available for shorter periods. We aim for something domestic rather than institutional. People bring their own furniture and pictures, keep their own routines, get up and go to bed when it suits them, and decide how much they want to join in with what is going on. A good deal of what makes life here pleasant is quite unremarkable: a proper breakfast, the paper, time in the garden, company if you want it and peace if you do not. For people living with dementia we work with the person as they are now. Knowing their history, recognising what tends to unsettle them and being willing to go at their pace prevents a lot of distress before it begins. We are also careful to support what people can still do for themselves. That is often what worries people most about moving into a home, and losing it is not inevitable. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Visitors are welcome at any reasonable hour, and we would always rather hear about a concern while it is small. Please ring us to arrange a look round.
