About The Old Vicarage
The Old Vicarage is a residential care home in Mansfield supporting adults with a range of needs, including people with a learning disability, autistic adults, people living with mental health conditions, people with a physical disability and those with sight or hearing loss. We plan support from the person outwards rather than from the diagnosis in. That means taking time at the beginning to learn how somebody likes their day to run, what they manage themselves, where help is genuinely wanted and what tends to make things go wrong. What comes out of that is agreed with the person and reviewed properly as things change. Support ranges from full help with personal care and moving safely through to prompting and encouragement while somebody does things for themselves. Communication gets close attention, because a choice is only a choice if it has been understood, and behaviour usually makes sense once you know what it is telling you. People here are supported to have a life outside the house, keeping up interests and activities, getting out locally and staying in touch with family and friends. Respite stays can be arranged where appropriate. If you are looking for a placement or a short stay, please contact us and come and see the home.
