About Corner House Residential Care Home
Corner House is a residential care home in Mansfield, supporting adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities, and people living with sight or hearing loss. We also offer respite stays. We treat this as where people live rather than where they have been placed. People arrange their own rooms, have a real say in the food and the shopping, and are involved in how the household runs. Where somebody can do a thing themselves, our job is to make that possible rather than to do it faster on their behalf, even when the quicker route is tempting. Communication is where we start rather than where we arrive. Where a person communicates differently we sort that out properly before anything else, because the rest of our work depends on it. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is outstanding. We are proud of it and slightly cautious about it, because a rating describes a period rather than a permanent condition. What keeps it true is the same thing that earned it, which is asking the people who live here what would make this a better place to be, and then actually changing things.
