About Ashlands Care Home
Ashlands Care Home in Mansfield provides residential care for older people, including those living with dementia. People move in when life at home has become too much, sometimes gradually over years and sometimes suddenly after a fall or an illness. Our first job is to make that change feel like relief rather than only loss, so we ask about a person's history, their family, their working life and their habits, and we use it to shape their days here. Staff help with washing and dressing, with moving about safely, with medication and with eating and drinking well, and they do it without rushing people or taking over more than is needed. For those living with dementia we hold on to routine and familiarity, keep explanations simple and calm, and learn what a person's behaviour is telling us rather than treating it as a problem. Meals are cooked on the premises and eaten together by those who want the company. There is usually something going on in the day, though nobody is obliged to join in, and visitors are welcome. Respite and short stays can be arranged. If you would like to visit, please ring us and we will arrange a time. You will get an honest account of what we can and cannot do.
