About Stakesby Road
Our home at Stakesby Road in Whitby is a residential care home for adults with a learning disability, autistic adults and people living with a physical disability. It is a house in the town rather than a unit set apart from it, and the people who live here are involved in how their own home runs. Support is planned around each person. Some of our residents need help with most parts of the day, including personal care and moving about safely, while others need very little of that but depend on us for routine, encouragement and staff who understand how they communicate. We take our time working that out and we ask the people who know a person well. Everyday life here means the ordinary things: helping with meals, keeping your own room how you like it, choosing what to do at the weekend and getting out into Whitby and along the coast. We support people to do what they can for themselves, even when that takes longer, and we help properly where help is needed. We have the equipment and the training required for people with physical support needs, and our staff are trained in communication and in supporting somebody who is distressed. Respite stays are available and can give a family carer a real break. If you would like to know more, or to come and see the house, please contact us.
